I cant find dsm machine with synology assistant

I change back cpu to 1610T and all is good ... dsm booting and have IP and start good.

So what is wrong with E3-1265L V2 ???  Have some conflict with arpl kernel ?

    What can be wrong ?

I will try to make a new clean usb stick with fresh loader with E3-1265L V2 on gen8.

Maybe is something on loader when is build with another cpu.

  4. Me too i have migrate 4 x 4Tb hdd from a xpeno ds920+ to a baremetal HP Microserver gen8 using latest ARPL

all migration proces is done and perfect

Question is it's good or bad to change filesistem volume to BTRFS (now its ext4)

I weill use HPMgen8  at home for general ussage:

    - store many family photos

    - photo station

    - store movies

Its deserve to delete ext4 volume and make new one btrfs ?

  5. 6.2.3 and gemini lake (native support since 6.2.3 as synology uses it in its own x20 systems)
    ASRock J4105-ITX (90-MXB6N0-A0UAYZ)
    ASRock J5005-ITX (90-MXB6D0-A0UAYZ)
one pcie 1x slot to have a 4xsata controller or a 2.5GBit nic (but the nic can also be 2.5/5G on usb 3 port)
(if it needs to be a soldered cheap solution with 4xsata, i prefer micro atx with more pcie options and pcie 3.0, still my favorite is gigabyte b365m-hd3)
I have asrock j5005-itx and by default have 4 sata slots..
I have 4 disk instaled in raid 5 and it's work very well with last 6.2.3 firmware.

  6. Hi

as you know, on synology not exist a good method to do a simple backup (mirroring, rsync) to a external USB:

    - usbcopy permit only one job

-hyper backup it's to complicated to do a simple job (directory of bkp is inside another directory, or if you allready have bkp directory  you have to re-doit job  again from begining)

So, i made a simple script in job task scheduler to do a backup of internal directory to a external usb and to have a notification when job is done:

    #!/bin/bash
    rsync -au --delete /volume1/dir/ /volumeUSB2/usbshare/dir-bkp/
    /usr/syno/bin/synodsmnotify @administrators "Rsync Task" "Dir-bkp done !!!"

    change dir with your directory

    I hope it's help.

  9. Success with an AsRock J5005-ITX using 1.04b with 0.8_syno ds918+

    How i do'it:

    - download 1.04b loader

    - using osfmount mount loader and edited grub conf (notepad++ )

    - copyed zImage and rd.gz from the "DSM_DS918+_24922.pat" file to 2nd loader partition together with the new extra/extra2 from IG-88 0.8_syno ds918+

    - save loader and writing to usb disk and boot

    - install DSM_DS918+_24922.pat

    - update manual dsm to 24922 critical update 5

    - done

    Thanks @IG-88

  11. I questions to synology regarding hdmi output and xbmc on synology products

    Hi

Are any plans for future products , to include XBMC (kodi) in DSM S.O. ?

Ofcourse these products must have a HDMI output to play media content directly to TV.

    and response is:

Thank you very much for your email and interest in Synology. Regarding your feedback HDMI output & XBMC support, I'd like to let you know that I have already passed it to our product development team for further evaluation.

  12. I played today with firmware recovery for ts-470 from here:

    http://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Firmware_Recovery

based on infos from here ( http://reverseengineering.stackexchange ... extraction )

i managed to unpack the firmware

    # dd if=F_TS-470_20140519-1.2.8.img bs=512 of=part1 skip=32 count=2160w

    # dd if=F_TS-470_20140519-1.2.8.img bs=512 of=part2 skip=4352 count=242304w

    # dd if=F_TS-470_20140519-1.2.8.img bs=512 of=part3 skip=488960 count=242304w

    # dd if=F_TS-470_20140519-1.2.8.img bs=512 of=part5 skip=973600 count=8304w

    # dd if=F_TS-470_20140519-1.2.8.img bs=512 of=part6 skip=990240 count=8688w

    # mount -r part2 /mnt/ts2 -o loop

but from now on I do not know what to do

maybe someone with more experience can succeed to porting qnap s.o.
