  1. Success! Backup completed after approx. 5 days then another 4-5 days to restore the data onto the new Volume. Thank you again Rojoone2 for your help in getting me started and lesson learnt I am going to keep the backup for a "just in case" scenario.
  2. Thank you, I decided to try ARPL and it installed after a few attempts (operator error) and is now running on my HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8. I have just started the process of backing up my Synology Nas to this new build and it is currently working beautifully (fingers crossed). I really appreciate your help in setting me on the correct path and the Xpenology Community in general and of course Mark Star for writing and developing the Automated RedPill Loader (ARPL) and his You Tube video which I found to be very helpful. Regards Marie (jamiea).
  3. Thank you very much for this. I will look into and read up on each of these suggestions. I am sure that your knowledge will prove to be very helpful to me as I work my way through this. Thanks again.
  4. Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum but not completely new to Xpenology. In the past I had a HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 but decided to upgrade to a Synology DS918+ 4 bay Nas back in 2019. I am still a newbie though as my knowledge was limited back then and unfortunately it still is limited. I messed up my server when I tried to upgrade from DSM version 5.? to DSM 6. That is when I realized my knowledge and skills where not that great and I was better of buying a proper Synology Nas. Anyway, full circle I now need to set up my old HP ProLiant MicroServer again so I can do a backup of my Nas to repair 'file errors.' And, yes I do know I should have a backup already but as I said my knowledge is limited and I seem to learn these things when things go wrong. Regards jamiea
