I already store the HDDs in separate cases and would stick to that. But what I actually forgot is the power supply issue! Of course, the mini PC wouldn't come with a power supply for the HDDs… Why the Mini PC in the first place? It seems to be the only way to get a power efficient yet relatively powerful CPU. Am I wrong?

Hello, I have been playing around with Xpenology a little and are now searching for appropriate Hardware for my final system. Modern Mini PCs are interesting because they are cheap, efficient and relatively powerful. Could it work to use a NVMe to SATA Adapter (see picture) to connect the NAS HDDs to such a PC? Is it worth a try or is it doomed to fail (maybe because DSM wouldn't recognize the HDDs?)
