The USB chipset of the DOM is irrelevant as long as you have the correct software to flash the controller. Since you don't have your DOM yet, find a USB thumb drive drive rewrite VID/PID and use that to boot from the front USB port. I would advise using the front port to test your DOM unless you enjoy disassembling and reassembling your NAS repeatedly.
I have not yet seen in any of the bootloaders that the search for the necessary files would occur by VID PID, either the UUID of the partition is registered in the config, or, as in this case, HD0, which will be the USB connector for the USB DOM. In this case, there are two options, either to change the config to boot by UUID, or to solder a regular USB connector to the USB DOM connector.

your NAS is configured to boot from HD0, it is possible that HD0 is a USB DOM, and from another device, it will not be possible to boot in a simple way, you have to wait for a new USB DOM.

Take any usb flash drive, deploy the resulting image from the USB DOM to it, Insert into the front USB and try to boot. -

In this message there is a utility to change the VID PID, but for me, it only worked under Windows XP 32bit.

If you have connected the USB DOM and made a copy of it, then it is working. You need to check on another power supply, check the BIOS, if you have an Intel Atom, then it may be affected by the С2000 problem.

I have compiled a bootloader for my DS218+.
The image of a USB flash drive from 918+ was taken as a basis.
In the first section, the SynoBootLoader.conf file was replaced, which was kindly provided to me by DSfuchs, thanks to him for this. The files on the second disk were replaced: checksum.syno, grub_cksum.syno, rd.gz, zImage, these files were used from the unpacked PAT file. The vender file contained the serial number and MAC address and their check amounts, with stickers on the motherboard.
P.S. If you do not change the VID PID of the USB flash drive on F400, when installing the operating system from a PAT file, you will receive the error "cannot install DSM, the file may be damaged."
P. S. I'm waiting for the USB DOM to burn the image on it and install it inside, as well as the CPU SR2Z9 4c / 4t .

Received USB DOM, the installation was successful.
