Have you taken a look at the Plex log file?
http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic ... 93&t=72034
I got a similar error from SABNZBD, SickBeard and Couchpotato whilst playing around with permissions for Couchpotato renaming...

However I suspect that my issue is caused by my lack of reboot (i'm in the middle of an SHR expansion at the moment)

You can't install DSM without disks attached. DSM needs to be installed to the disk(s).

The extra grunt would be for Plex to transcode video streams. An HP N54L will struggle to transcode a 1080p stream.

1- 6 drives is possible, basically, you need to...
- Run an eSATA to SATA cable from the back of the box, through a blanking plate and into the top drive bay.
- Get a molex to dual SATA power cable.
- Find some way of mounting two drives (I used one of these: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/15856 ... 0-AKS.html)
- Upgrade the BIOS to one of the hacked versions to enable the eSATA/ODD to run at full speed (emulates IDE otherwise).
2 - For DSM, you'll have to format the drives.
3 - There's plenty of info on the net about this already.
4 - See the nanoboot instructions on the forum.
BTW, i'm not running DSM on my N36L yet - the above setup was for WHS2011. I plan on building a new server for DSM, migrating the data to it and then rebuilding the N36L with DSM as well.

syslinux.cfg should be in the \boot\syslinux directory on your USB memory stick. On Windows, you can use USBDEView to find out the VID and PID of your memory stick: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

Did you reboot the server after removing Plex? It looks like this may be necessary to remove some residual pieces of Plex before a re-install....
