I mentioned "video=eDP:d video=DP-1:d video=HDMI-A-1:d video=HDMI-A-2:d" is not working for me. just remove the cables
QuoteThere are three options, I need to set all to "UEFI only"?
CSM yes all three to UEFI Only
Don't disable Intel SpeedStep, it will not burst to 2.6.
try to keep RAM and Voltage to auto until you make a successful installation
Suspend to RAM: AUTO; ACPI HPET Table: enable
get also https://synocommunity.com/package/ffmpeg
and run ....@appstore/ffmpeg/bin/ffmpeg -config

are you formatting the HDD in your NAS before each install?

Thanks! I'll try!
I tried to remove all optional modules, not only those on your list, but it did not help. Maybe because I didn't unplug the monitor)
monitor unplug only fixes the sudden reboot when trying to transcode,
to check if the driver is ready just see if /dev/dri exist, type "ls /dev/dri"
for videostation hw transcode you need an original sn+mac not sure it''s the case for plex.
can you share dmesg output with me?
-
you need to remove agpgart intel-gtt intel-agp drm drm_kms_helper i915, and make a clean install format the hard drive before instaling
-
Currently i915 driver is causing kernel panic on ASRock Apollo Lake boards and dev/dri folder is missing. many reported the issue around the forum.
-
Hi,
I removed the faulty i915 drivers from extra, you can download and test it here.
- hw transcoding is working but performance is low on both videostation and plex but I don't think is related to the loader.
- on ASRock j4205-ITX you have to unplug any monitor before using hw transcoding otherwise the system will reboot, this one might be due to /dev/dri permissions or the DP to hdmi coverter on this board.
- reboot/shutdown is working properly again.
- I recommend doing a clean install, formatting the hard drive before testing.
- You can test disabling video outputs in the grub, for me it didn't install properly.

guys, be aware that if you install plex from the package center it will be 32bit versions (hw transcoding not supported), you need to download the 64bit version from website, with plex pass active.

Hi,
I tried DSM6.2 DS918+
The HW Transcoding does not ok on my J3455 , S/N & Mac ok , activation.conf ok
But transcoding does not start, without error message (in SSH)
With Plex it's the same, black screen , if i try transcode with VideoStation i get 1-1-1-1 in counter I do not understand.
for plex you need to force the transcoding by disabling the direct play in player options.

cool, I have the j4205-itx
-
everything works with the current 6.2 alpha image, network, hw transcoding, etc

Hi,
Any Idea why scaling_driver is acpi-cpufreq and not INTEL_PSTATE? intel_pstate=enable don't work either.
Asrock J4205-ITX/Jun v1.03а2/6.2
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_driver acpi-cpufreq /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate: No such file or directory

I expect ApolloLake to work fine with the new 6.2 since 918 uses the same arhitecture.

I installed on bare metal with jun's bootloader 1.03a2. On clean SSD, it worked fine some time and i decided to migrate my hdds. Migration failed so I reinstalled DSM 6.2 and set up as new DS.
It works but I have some issues with spontaneously reboots. Example: I installed some packages and it reboots itself. Wanted to index all video files - > rebooted.
And restart/shutdown not working. only helps pushing button reboots
PS.: htop shows only one core.
P.S.S: added logs dir. hope it helps
ok, so da actual reboot problem was on 6.1.7, since the pat file has the same name like 6.2 I installed 6.1.7, 6.2 it is more stable in that regard, still sometimes the network don't work soft reboot.

Hi,
I have a good SN & MAC , activation.conf {"success":true,"activated_codec":["h264_dec","h264_enc","mpeg4part2_dec","aac_dec","aac_enc","vc1_dec","vc1_enc","hevc_dec"],"token":"5xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx1"}
But no HW transcoding h264 or hevc in Plex (i have plex pass) or Video station
Any idea ?
THx
First you need to download the client from the web with plex pass active so you get the enable hw transcoding option, second you can force hw transcoding by disabling the direct play in player options

I tried to test hardware transcoding and it is not working for me.
cat /usr/syno/etc/packages/VideoStation/codecs.conf
shows
support_codec_h264="yes"
support_codec_vc1="yes"
support_codec_mpeg4part2="yes"
support_codec_aac="yes"
but when i try to open video thru VideoStation it shows error
I know from previous tries that you need original serial+mac, you can find some on google.

Hi,
I have the same issue with reboots, or the whole server going offline even if it's powered up with network lights working. I have test hw transcoding and it seem to be working but it the processor is not boosting, I have j4205 and it stays at 1.5 ghz.
-
Nice, gr8 job @jun , thank you! maybe we can get Apollo Lake working with this loader.
-
unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to peruse this further, at least if we need to add additional vendor id's we can't do it without disassemble to whole file and recompile it. I am thinking getting the j3710 board....

maybe unrelated, I had issues with cold power up with this board and it got better by removing the bios jumper, asrock j4205-itx supports jumperfree so I see no damage in trying it also.
I will try and make a detailed explanation with what works for me when I get back from work.
