  1. There is no output so it's perfectly normal that it stops at Booting Kernel. You have to connect through find.synology.com

Unfortunately nothing to see Koalala, other tips or tricks? It does not appear on my router as well, no ip address assigned.

What is your network card ? Only limited number of cards are supported.

It is the onboard one NC107i PCI Express Gigabit 10/100/1000

  3. Hi Guys,

Trying to do this on a N54L, and I can't seem to get past "Booting Kernel" message. Changed PID, SataPortMap=2 etc. And using the hybrid UEFI image of Junuefi. Any hints in the right direction? Do I need to change something in the BIOS?

    TX!

  4. This worked so I am back in Business! Keep up the great work!

    So......I am almost there.......luckily

    What I did:

create a new VM created with gnoboot latest alfa. I installed synology DSM 5.0 final.

After this, I added my 2 diskfiles to my VM. After setting the right permissions for the admin account, I am able to access my files in the old volume (now Volume 2)

In the meantime I am backing up the files I wanted, but the storagemanager states the following:

"failed to access the storage partition. Please repair it by clicking the following link"

What do you guys reckon? Yes or no?

    Cheers

  6. Hi Guys,

I need some help and I hope one of your experts can help me. I am new to xpenology but up untill now everything went quite ok with all the info on the forum.

Let me explain what I did:

    I have a N54L, running ESXI5.5 and Xpenology in a VM. (DSM5 beta update 1)

2x3TB WD Reds in JBOD having 1 Volume (2 datastores)

I was testing around in DSM when I tried to use restore settings to defaults in DSM . Then it went wrong. Syno Assistant states No DSM Installed.

I tried to setup a new VM, and got DSM back up running. However, when I connect the 2 datastorefiles to the VM and reboot, it states there is no installed DSM.

There is some data I would like to preserve (yes, I know about backups  , but I was wondering if someone can guide me on solving this?

If I disconnect the 2 disks, DSM comes up again

Is there a way to get access to the data again? Do I need to re-install DSM? Will it wipe my data? As far as I understood, DSM software is partially installed on de Volume? Please help me out guys.

    Great work!

    //edit smal additions

  7. Solved by accessing the VMDK disk from a virtual machine linux mint.

    Guys,

First of all let me thank you all for this awesome community. I've been looking around for a while and finally decided to register to the forum

I have a question and I hope one of you can help me.

    My set-up:

    HP Microserver N54L

    Esxi 5.5 (internal USB)

    Modded Bios

Moved original HDD (250 GB) op top to ODD

2x 3 TB western digital reds in JBOD

I have 3 datastores. (the 250G drive hosts all the VM's)

(MineOS, OpenVPNserver appliance, Android 4.3, WIn7, DSM5 Beta update 1)

In DSM software I created 1 Volume JBOD of the 2x 3 TB Drives)

for now everything runs ok since I just want to play around with it to create the proper set-up.

I have run through all the threads but I keep running into the fact that I am not able to change the MAC and serial.

In DSM5 software it shows that I have 3 disks (the 2 WD REDS) and a disk that runs the DSM Software?

This disk shows "not initialized", I suspect that this is where I need to change the MAC adress and serial.

Unfortunately I am not able to access this disk via Winscp or SSH. Mind you that the SSH service is enabled on the DSM. I see al the drivelisting info of the other 2 disks but not this one.

I understand that there are several ways to change the mac adress.

    1) by WINSCP

    2) by editing the virtual machine HDD image (wmdk)

    3) putting the USB in a computer (mind you this is not applicable since it runs in a VM on Esxi)

All of the above do not seem to work, since there is no way I can find a vender file.

Can one of you provide me some guidance on how to do this?

Keep up the great work by all of you!
