  1. The same happens on Proliant N40L. I wanted to use onboard SATA ports 5 and 6 in AHCI mode rather than IDE, but this setting was lost with each reboot. I assume that DSM just forces BIOS to load default settings.
  2. I successfully installed a 2 port SATA controller based on the Silicon Image SIL-3132 chip. I used that one, because some DiskStations also use this chip. DSM uses one port as internal SATA and the other one as eSATA.
  3. I haven't read anything about this so far and so I thought I might share this with you: USB3.0 controller card based on NEC D720200 is working out of the box in my N40L. No driver installation required! ~100 MB/s without any issues. I tried this card as my DS1812+ also uses that chip for USB3.0. Only drawback seems to be missing hybernation, probably because DSM is installed on USB stick and DSM activity seems to prevent hybernation for all USB devices.
