I found a much better solution than Rocketchat.
Install Nextcloud with this guide. It took me 10 minutes and works immediately.

Nextcloud comes pre-packaged with many apps, including "Talk", which is a very responsive and intuitive chat app. THere are Android and iPhone apps for Talk and all notifications work. With this solution you can operate a home user or enterprise level chat application on your own hardware.

The solution was as follows (based on the original tutorial on here):
1) Any time the USB stick gets created with Win32Diskimager, it has to be cleared before hand with Paragon Partition Manager.
- delete all partitions
- create 1 main partition
- Make sure its GPT and not MBR
2) now edit the Loader image and create USB as in the original tutorial
3) IMPORTANT: The Dell T1700 needs to be in Legacy mode and not EFI; the original Jun loaders will work for 6.2 (3617 and 3615 tested and works)
4) have some patience when searching for the NAS Station with the Assistant. The initial boot with the Loader takes some time, nothing happens on the screen and Assistant keeps searching without any luck.
After that the NAS was found and migration was all fine.

thanks. I managed to edit environment variables and CMD, created the folders and mongod.conf
The container starts and creates a few files but then it collapses so I cannot log into the container to execute the final step:

I think they called it Plus because it has a 1GB NIC and it has an eSata connector for an expansion unit.

It might be interesting to learn for other users that I just migrated 2 HDs from an existing Synology ARM box onto Xpenology with NO DATA LOSS.
Source system:
Synology DS212+, 0.5GB Ram, Arm Processor, Single core, Marvell Kirkwood 88F6282
2x 3TB HDs, 1 Volume RAID1
DSM 6.2.4
Target system:
Xpenology 3617
Xeon E3-1226, 3.3GHz, 16GB Ram
DSM 6.1.7-15284
No SSH commands were neccesary. The Genesys' 1.02b loader (MBR) worked.
Even 2 encrypted Shared Folders survived the migration and were able to unlock without any problems.
Even the Synology documentation points out that this migration would not be possible.

I am dieing to get a chat server up and running. Unfortunately the excellent Synology Chat app does not work well on Xpenology (no push notifications) so I have been looking at alternatives.
One that I came across was Rocket Chat and there is a docker container but I could not get this to work on Xpenology. Here is a what I did:
installed mongodb container
installed rocketchat container
linked mongodb to rocketchat container
configured container environment variable (-d rocket.chat)
Both containters start but I cannot connect to the rocket chat container via http://myIP:3000
Does anyone have more experience with rocket chat in XPenology or with any other chat server?

Unfortunately the older versions of Notestation don't work. Has anyone got a working version of Notestation?

Its a bit hidden on the Synology website but i found the archive with all old versions of Synology packages;

I have sucessfully installed DSM 6.1.15047 but cannot get Notestation to run. The latest version is Version: 2.6.0-1407.
When I start if it always shows as "Loading" and idle icon....
I reinstalled several times but it doesnt work.
Is there a location where I can download older versions of Notestation?

thanks for sharing, yes can work anywhere but needs a fast LAN connection and thats only near the router

Hi - I am trying to install 6.2 or 6.1 on a Dell T1700.
The USB stick loader is booting and I can insert all my details (VID, PID, SN, MAC1). I can then select the boot option (fresh install) but after that no Kernel gets loaded. The Grub is just stuck then.
Any ideas?
I have tried 6.2/918 loader or 6.1/3617 loader, always stuck.

thanks. The passive cooling seems like a good idea. I might be able to get a T1700 incl heatsink and small fan on top. Maybe that is quiet enough.

thanks for your tips. This makes sense. My plan is to use an existing used PC/Workstation (e.g. Dell T1600, T1700) and amend as needed. They come very cheaply with super fast Xeon and lots of Ram.
I was hoping that someone had experience with the noise levels...

The main advantage of Synology boxes is that they are very very quiet.
Can anyone recommend PCs/Workstations that work well for Xpenology and are very quiet.

Has anyone got experience with the Chat app? This Synology app is fantastic. Does this app also work under Xpenology?
Last year, some people said that chat notifications do not work on Xpenology. Has this been fixed.

I would be moving from a DS212+ model (2-disk with single core ARM processor I think).
What would a migration install do? Can I stick the fully loaded 2 old Synology disks into the new machine for an "Migration Install"?

I have 2x4TB in a Synology NAS box. I would like to transition all onto a Xpenology machine and keep the data on the disks.
Is it possible to boot Xpenology and then put the 2x SYnology HDs into the Xepenology machine?

Thanks. In mesh meaning you have 2 routers of the same type in different parts of the house? What WiFi standard do they operate to offer more than 1Gbit/s. Which tool have you measured the speed with?
