    Change MAC address AFTER DSM 6 install?

    Hi, maybe somebody can help me? 

    I'am using XPenology on two Proxmox Hypervisors. I have two Instances of XPenology (one instance per Proxmox Hypervisor), unfortunately both have the same MAC-Adresse because the are based one the same Backup-Image (vma.zst-File). I think the same MAC will cause the error in the Migration-Assistant from Synology, that I can't connect to the Migration-Source in Synology.

    Is there any way to change the grub.cfg of the virtual machine in Proxmox? 

     

    EDIT: Okay, I have helped myself

    1.) Shutdown one of the both Synology-VM's on the Proxmox Host

    2.) Insert a Ubuntu ISO file and boot from this CD as a Ubuntu Live-System

    3.) Go to boot-folder one the mapped HDD, than goto folder "grub"

    4.) Change the grub.cfg file and edit the MAC.

     

    After that, the Migrationassistant works fine!

    XPenology auf HP Microserver Gen 8 - komisches Verhalten

    Hallo zusammen,

     

    vielleicht hat jemand eine Idee: 

    HP Microserver Gen 8, DSM 6.2-23729, bare metal

     

    Problem: 

    Wenn ich den Microserver Gen 8 neustarte, dann bekomme ich regelmäßig Probleme, dass DSM nicht mehr korrekt hochkommt und auch nicht mehr mittels HP ILO auf den Server zugreifen kann. 

     

    Der Server bootet erst normal "durch" und piept dann zweimalig an der Stelle wo er mit seinem Selbsttest durch ist, danach übernimmt ja der Loader und es folgt der Screen mit "Happy Hacking". 

     

    Danach geht es aber bei diversen Bootvorgängen bei mir nicht weiter, sprich: DSM ist nicht erreichbar und auch der Synology Assistent findet die Maschine nicht. 

     

    Wenn ich die Kiste dann längere Zeit vom Strom nehme, geht es wieder. 

    Hat jemand eine Idee?

    Das würde mich auch interessieren: 

     

    Das würde im Umkehrschluss ja auch bedeuten: 

    1x XPenology = 2 Lizenzen

    1x DSM virtual = 2 Lizenzen

    1x DS211j = 2 Lizenzen 

     

    Summe = 6 Lizenzen

     

    Wenn ich dann weitere DS'en aufbauen würde, könnte ich die Lizenzen ja unbegrenzt nach oben bringen...?

     

    Klingt spannend, wobei ich im Moment mit BlueIris spiele und echt beeindruckt bin - und das für 70 EUR.

    Hallo zusammen,

     

    ich wollte mich einmal erkundigen ob man mit der Surveillance Station (8.2.8-6335) unter DSM 6.2-23739 weitere Lizenzen von Synology einspielen kann oder es einen "Trick" gibt um das Thema zu umgehen.

    Hallo XPenology-Forum,

     

    ich betreibe aktuell einen HP Microserver Gen 8 mit einem Intel Xeon E3-1240v2, 16 GB RAM und DSM 6.2-23739. 

    Welcher Bootloader aktuell im Einsatz ist weiß ich nicht (wie kann ich das rausfinden), aber ich möchte gerne auf einen aktuelleren Stand kommen. 

     

    Nun zu meinen Fragen: 

    Auf welches Update darf / kann ich gehen? 

    Gibt es irgendwo eine "saubere" Anleitung?

    Hallo,

     

    einen fachlich guten Tipp habe ich nicht, aber:

    Warum machst du das nicht über DynDNS?

     

    Ich nutze seit mehreren Jahren DynDNS von Strato und bin total zufrieden.

    Du kannst über die Ports (und in DSM 6 per Alias) alles ziemlich genau so einstellen, wie du es gerne haben möchtest.

     

    Ich habe mit meiner alten DS-211 mal QuickConnect genutzt, bin dann aber schnell wieder auf DynDNS (insbesondere, weil sich auch andere Geräte ansprechen lassen).

     

    Vielleicht hat QuickConnect aber mittlerweile einen Vorteil, den ich nicht kenne.

    Hallo,

     

    also es gibt meine ich so ein IntelPowerSavingScript das man einspielen kann.

    Die CPU taktet dann wohl herunter - ob das wirklich funktioniert hat konnte man dann über die "Shell" herausfinden, meine ich.

    Musst du ggf. mal nach suchen, ich habe das nicht mhr so genau im Kopf. Ich meine es hieß "IntelPowersaving" oder so.

     

    Ich kann die Anforderung ja nachvollziehen, aber wenn ich den Komfort von 24h/365d haben will, dann muss ich halt leider auch etwas Geld in die Hand nehmen.

    Die könntest die Platten "häufiger" in den Standby senden - z.B. nach 20 Minuten oder so. Jeder Start / Stopp geht aber auch auf die Platten, dass bitte nicht außer Acht lassen.

     

    Nächste Option wäre eine Xeon xxxxL-CPU. Die aber nur aus dem Grund der Stromersparnis (sofern diese ggü. einem G1610 denn existiert) einzubauen, halte ich jedoch wirtschaftlich für nicht verretbar.

     

    Mein System

    HP MS Gen 8

    Xeon 1240

    16GB RAM

    2x 2 TB WD Green

    2x 3 TB WD Green

    2x USB Geräte

    2x Netzwerkkabel

    1x iLo

    liegt im Schnitt so bei 40 Watt, ggf. etwas mehr.

    Wenn die Platten schlafen ist es natürlich etwas weniger.

     

    Am Ende möchte ich den Komfort nicht mehr missen.

    Egal ob Wunschmusik bei der Arbeit, FileStation in der Uni oder TVHeadend wenn man es nicht rechtzeitig nach Hause schafft - alles genial.

     

    Achja: Schau mal im Hardwareluxxforum zum HP Microserver Gen 8, dort gibt es viele Verbrauchswerte.

    I've just installed DSM 6.0 with the great tutorial on the first page.

    Thanks a lot, it was really easy.

     

    I've a question:

    I'm using an Xeon 1240 in my HP Microserver Gen 8 which is cooled by an active fan if the temperature is higher than 55°C.

     

    Is it necessary to use the Intel PowerSavingScript?

     

    I am wondering that the processor-fan is runnig a lot more than with DSM 5.2?!?!?!

     

    Any idea?

    Hallo,

     

    ich betreibe einen HP Microserver mit DSM 5.2 5592 Update 4.

    Problematisch war / ist die Verwendung meines DVB-S2 USB Sticks (Sundtek, Sky Ultimate TV 6) mit der Software DVBLogic-

    Das ganze hat leider nie richtig funktioniert, lag aber wohl eher an der Software als an dem eigentlichen USB-Stick.

     

    Die alte Video Station hat mir nicht besonders gut gefallen, sodass meine Hoffnung nun auf dem DSM 6 und der neuen Video Station oder DVBLogic liegt.

     

    Frage: Hat jemand die Konstellation oder eine ähnliche erfolgreich in Verwendung?

     

    Mein Problem ist, dass DVB Logic den USB Stick immer verloren hat und ich nach einem Reboot immer ein "Repair" der Software durchführen musste.

    Hallo Szaimen, dir ist aber schon bekannt, dass die Entwickler das in ihrer Freizeit entwickeln und das ganze auch noch kostenlos ist?

     

    Wenn es zwingend DSM 6 sein muss, dann greife zu echten Synology!

    Hi,

     

    I just want to confirm that the following setting works perfect for me:

     

    HP Microserver Gen 8

    DSM 5.2 last Update

    DVB TV Server / Source Version 5.5.x

    Sundtek Sky TV 5

     

    The stick was recognized by DVB Logic seconds after installing the driver.

    Now I'm watching with my RPi 2 and everything works really perfect.

     

    The same scenario with the PCTV461e from Hauppauge never worked!

    I'm using DSM 5.2-5592 Update 4 and the bootloader XPEnoboot 5.2 - 5592.2.

     

    I'm wondering that also TVH doesn't recognises the stick but the Video Station works fine.

    Hello

     

    I'm using XPenology on my HP Microserver Gen 8 bare metal.

    Everything works really fine and I am very hapy with XPenology but there is something that won't work:

     

    I bought an DVB Logic TV Source license a few years ago for my old Synology.

    On my DS211+ it works really fine with an Hauppauge PCTV 461e DVB-S2 USB dongle but the Synology USB controller crashed.

     

    Now I want to use DVB Logic on my XPenology but the PCTV461e USB dongle isn't recognized by DVB Logic.

    I have already asked the DVB Logic Team for supoprt but XPenology isn't supported by DVB Logic.

    They will try to help me with an teamviewer session but I think they can't solve the problem.

     

    Question:

    Do you have any idea to use DVB Logic on XPenology?

    Is it possible that another DVB-S2 dongle could work (for example from Sundtek)?

     

    I really like the DVB Logic software so I really want to use the product.

    Any other options?

    TVHeadend also doesn't recognise the PCTV 461e dongle.

    Hi,

     

    is there anything that touches the fan (cable)?

    My fan is really very very quiet.

     

    Are you shure that the 120mm fan is responsible? What happens if you stop the fan for a short time?

    Perhaps there is something wrong with the bearing?!

     

    Otherwise it could the small power-supply-fan?

    Hi,

     

    do you checked the bios Settings? I think the cooling must be "os controlled".

     

    I have the same system and it is very quiet.

     

    My fan is working the first 20 seconds on a higher level, after that at approx. 12%.
