  1. Hi all, i hope the community can help me out with a potential data loss issue. I was using a DSM6.1 DS3615xs Jun 1.02b setup on an old, outdated PC platform using two identical drives as RAID1 (software-RAID by xpenology) for backup purposes. Unfortunately the system hardware broke down, so I recovered the 2 hdds assuming I'll be able to access them from outside. I tried using a Win11 system, put one of the hdds in in an USB case and plugged the PC. To be able to access the ext4 filesystem, I used Hetman RAID recovery with the intention to analyze the drive and copy the data to another external USB drive. It basically doesn't work, it either reports the drive with an empty partition or finds hundreds of 2.37gb partitions. Obviously, I don't really know what I'm doing and before i make the situtation even worse, I hope that you guys can give me advice. Status per now is as follows: DSM6.1 hardware is physically still existent but damaged, probably mainboard failure both 8TB HDDs are physically identical, 1 ext4 partition each 1 hdd was already connected and might be corrupted somehow (if this is possible by just accessing, I did not "initialize" or s.th. what I'd assume would corrupt the partitions) the other 1 hdd is left completely untouched as retrieved from the wrecked system I have 1 Windows NUC (external access through USB only) and 1 Linux system with internal SATA connections here (can install Win on it if necessary) Happy to provide any information you might need and have your recommendations! Thanks in advance!
