Hello,
I have been using xpenology 6.2 on my current NAS for a few years but I am in the mind of replacing it.
I have ordered two 12tb Ironwolf drives but debating if my hardware should be replaced. My current NAS is a 4770k with 16gb ram. I have no problem with the performance when using it as a Plexserver transcoding 1080p material.
However I was looking at replacing it with a J4125 but unable to find these boards, mainly cause Synology uses the .
Since I am going to transition to DSM 7.1 I understand GeminiLake is the latest hardware that cane be used.
So, would you say that a J5040 board would suffice in terms of performance as a pelx server, with the ambition to be able to stream 4k media in the future, or is it any better option? Should I keep my 4770k?
Power consumption is of course why I am looking at a J-board.
Thanks,
Mikael
