Is there a simple way to just find out the Mac address on the motherboard of my expenology from my work computer? I don't see it when booting the motherboard.

Boot back into the loader config and add your NICs (netif_num and mac1 to macX) using the commandline menu or edit the user config file manually. rebuild shouldn't be required.
e.g.cmdline: mac1: "AC1D5B19E0E3" mac2: "AC1D5B19E0E4" netif_num: "2"
Hmm, i just have 1 Nic, but should i insert my nics mac adres? or just all the 3 rows from you here above? and how about netif_num?

In your case it should work! I really don't know what could be happening. DSM has native drivers for SATA controllers.
Which DSM model are you using?DS920+
-
And now i changed the two hd and the ssd from controller, now after init i got 2 reds pro available, So i think i have now the drives on the Intel Corporation .. controller and now the SSD should on the ASMedia, i think there must be a driver (if there is) for the ASM1062
As i want to use beside Plex also Home Assistant i want to use de SSD for Docker (as i think the Home Assistant does communicate a lot with the drives).
But the new situation is already better than the old.
For this moment i just have not made a pool.

Hi bonestaak, Please type "r8169.addon" in the field. Complete URL looks like:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/fbelavenuto/arpl-addons/main/r8169.addon
About disks, please show screen of "Cmdline menu -> Show SATA(s) # ports and drives" menu:
I did cmdline menu show SATA see printscreen but then what? new driver? i see there are 2 controllers, i have attached 2 drives to 1 and 1 (ssd) to the other. But after restart there is only 1 drive available. How to make a drive map?
-
As there is nowhere an answer how to download the r8169 i deleted it. Again built. Then patch or pattern does not match. Change Pat version. Then start again,
Very strange when the Syno is started up! i got the Synology from the old (yesterday) install, so with user and password to fill in.
How is that possible, that is not overwrite or erased? So no new format.
And of course i have attached 3 drive It is seen in de bios when startup and del, but also with this bootloader, only 1 drive is available, so my new Synology is just a "DS120+" No backup, no raid1 so when i put up the music files and movies for Plex i must also copy these files directly to a connected dock with a second drive (if it is still possible on dsm7 to connect an USB drive).
I have worked with a Truenas system but too bad it dit not support Home Assistant "Supervised" only Core, and in Core you cannot add zwave or zigbee sticks so beside the Truenas with consume about 60 watts and an other pc to hold Home Assistant with an extra 20 watts.
I used for this experiment an motherboard from ASRock with a J5005 and that used about 10 watts!
I have used this Motherboard before i dit go to Truenas with DSM 6.2 and it dit work with the 3 drives and a docker (for HomeAssistant). But i tried it with the bootloader for 6.2 and it went wrong with the install of the diskmanager, about 15 procent ending.
I think when we should use motherboards with this low power like also more expensive C3958 intel with ECC support (thats why i went to Truenas with a Xeon processor and ECC memory) I think they wil not work with Expenology. It wil only work with Common motherboards (high power) that were shipped with low cost PC's
So now i must wait for a long time before i can use music and video again as the better real Syno's who works with ECC and of course Docker are very expensive.
Too bad there is no good documentation for Expenology.
-
-
Which file to download? there is no img, only arpl-main.zip and that seemes to be not bootable (motherboard always came back to bios setup)
-
But when choosing 3622 The system said: there is no key, choose from another.
Anyway, i heard from another that he has the same problem, the system is loading the wrong pattern.
I dit have another motherboard so i threw away the old expensive board with the ECC memory.
Now i use the ASRock motherboard with J5005 processor (looks a lot like the J41.. on the ds920+ but a little faster.
Installing in just about 10 minutes
Now i got the system and the desktop, but 1 problem:
i got 3 drives (2 Red plus for raid 1 and one SSD for Docker.
But too bad (althoug the motherboard gives all 3 Syno just find only 1 drive.

Now tried
https://xpenology.club/install-dsm-7-on-baremetal-or-vm/
there are more commands, and the first time it dit not asked for a .pat directly installing dsm 0-100% so restart, and again directly installing dsm whitin a few seconds, and again restart and again instarting dsm few seconds 100% then when restarting i selected the second row on the new machine boot rows and now it asked for a .pat, > also tried the upgrades but all aboud 8% 40% 56& error installing.

Hmm, i saw on the reference that Only the Haswell do hardware encoding? So i must take an installer that does not support Hardware encoding?
I need the Synology for 2 things: Plex (pass) and HomeAssistant (and i think for the supervised version i must use Docker).
-
I have a motherboard Supermicro x9SRi-3F with a Xeon e31220, when i tried to install Tinycore redpill .. when inserting serial command there was no compatible serialloader, so i had to try another serialloader with another intel (I3)
Also tried bootloaders for 6.1 and 6.2 none of them are loading, only happy hacking then nothing.
Which bootloader (DSM six or seven) do work with the xeon e31220?
-
Tried it with bootloaders for 6.2 also, only the row happy hacking, no more
At the time I bought this motherboard with very expensive ECC memory, with a Xeon processor on it, unfortunately those xpenologie solutions apparently only work on game motherboards

So i should make a usb stick with gparted but when booting with this tool on my mac? can i see the usb dock (extern from my Mac mini on usb) ?
-
I was using Truenas but i want to make a new start with DSM, so i dit an install with Tiny... But too bad, the disks dit not install it seems that DSM coult not reckognise ZFS.
I also tried to connect the drives to my Mac in a dock but too bad, Drive util see the drives but can not erase them or format them with other os like Fat or Extfs
How can i reset these drives?
-
On this moment I got a DS 920+ I have mainly Plex pass and HomeAssistant
too bad Plex is not working very well, too much waiting time. I need a faster system I have tried it in past with c5005. Very low power but not enough power for Plex. Some people say use Ryzen 3600 but there is no Syno with an AMD.
Anyone have some idea?
-
I have a system with a j5005 motherboard, in the past (about a half year ago) i installed DSM on this system, i changed to OpenMedaVault but now i want to go back to DSM. What system (DS918+ or 36...) is the best to use? Also what is the newest DSM version to use?
-
So i cannot go to the interface (how do you call that) so i can not use the apps on the Synology as example Plex)
-
-
I have had a problem with the modem/router of my ISP now my Syno is not found anymore. after starting the computer again, i see quickly *ds918+ and the message : screen wil stop updating shortly. But then nothing happens. When i remove the usb stick i can access bios. But after restart i shortly see 3 options and the system is fast choosing 3 *DS918+ but nothing after the screen gives: screen wil stop updating shortly.
What to do? can i make a new stick? or do i lost then my files?
