Assuming you have both NIC's mac address correct, and they are both(mac1 & mac2 ) defined in the grub.cfg file, you can SSH to the server and check via command
ifconfig | grep eth[0-4]
. if the mac addresses match exactly on your ethernet ports on the motherboard, then try to use other ethernet cable.

I use a 256MB 10 years old USB drive for the XpenoBoot. What I dislike Virtual Machine route is that your virtual disk will always fail the smart(hard drive) check, and Synology constantly write the errors to the logs.
-
For those of you that have this working with baremetal setup, can you share your hardware information? I can't seem to get this to work on my set up.
-
CPU Speedboost ( Turbo Boost ) still does not work, eh? The CPU MHZ doesn't scale down on a Xeon D1540 CPU. I assume it's the case for all other Xeon CPU, or other i3, i5, or i7.
-
I used a generated Serial number, but the mac addresses are just random.

v1.02a2 DS3617 works really well in ESXi6.5. I had it running for 7 days straight. I do want to move to baremetal, but only if I can get VirtualBox working. Currently, Virtualbox installation fails.
-
I still can't install VirtualBox on my setup. With Jun's 1.02a2 DS3617.
Failed during installation:
"/bin/tar: conf: Not found in archive"
-
@dasis, you have to boot from USB. Check the Advance or other tab for "Boot Order", or "Boot option". You can even try to manually select boot device by pressing F11, F12, or other F-keys, depending on your system. Also, your computer is fairly old, and likely don't support UEFI, which is needed for this bootloader.
-
I can't set it to Legacy because I failed to install it. So, I'm not that far in the process.
-
Same here. Creator's update does not work wor me also.
did you get the same error "/bin/tar: conf: Not found in archive" ?
What's your set up?
-
I had installed it with 1.02a2 and DS3617 on ESXi 6.5 and it works fine. It runs longer than 48h without any issue. Right know I switch it of because it was only a test.
I use the pure syno img without any changes of serial or MAC.
How did you install 1.02a2 DS3617 in ESXi? Did you write the image to an USB drive, and then boot your VM from the USB? or did you add the img as a disk in the VM? I had trouble getting it to install on my ESXi 6.5. It kept getting the File Corrupt (13) error during installation.
-
The 1.02a2 DS3617xs boot loader works well with bare metal setup . I didn't experience time bomb issue. However, I can not get it to install in ESXi. It kept failing with the "file corrupt (13)" error.

How do I go about installing Jun loader v1.02 in KVM / Proxmox ? has anyone done it yet?
-
I'm searching for guide to install DSM6.1 ( Jun's loader ) on Proxmox as well. Currently, I can passthrough a USB drive to my Xpeno VM, but I can't boot from it in Proxmox.

I'm having problem installing the VirtualBox package, from the Repo, or manually upload the package. It fails to proceed in the "Confirm Settings" step, with the message: "Failed to install VirtualBox." Here is the logs:

I am running Jun's 1.02a2, DS3617xs, on a Supermicro X10SDV (Xeon D1540) motherboard.
-
is KVM supported? or has anyone tried this on Proxmox / KVM?
-
i'm going to have similar dilemma when I switch to baremetal on my Supermicro X10SDV board. It has 8 core, 16 threads.
-
how to update the "hard wired mac address" ?
-
did you have to disable surveillance station ?
-
after I import this VM, the boot disk is a 50mb SATA 0:0 drive. But If I add a virtual hard drive as SATA 0:1, the installation can't detect any hard drive; If I set the virtual hard drive to be SCIS 0:0, then it detects. Is this expected?

As of yet, I have been UNABLE to get any of these suggested DSM 6 solutions working in any way, on ESXi 5.5, 6, or 6.5. I have no issues with the 5x versions though.
I always end up with some variation of "Failed to power on virtual machine DSM 6. Unsupported or invalid disk type 2 for 'scsi0:0'. Ensure that the disk has been imported. Click here for more details. "
Has anyone developed a bootable ISO for install yet?
try to import the disk file on the new ESXi host:
-
anyone has experience in compiling ? There is source code for Braswell: https://sourceforge.net/projects/dsgpl/ ... z/download

Hi
Just upgraded to 6.0.2 U4 on our lovely motherboard. Anything seems to work fine. Anyone with more information?
In my case:
Downloadstation: ok
Plex Media server: ok
File station + afp: ok
Cloud station (server & sync): ok
Apache (plus wordpress, maria db, etc): ok
USB drive on USB3 port: ok
Does Network work? and I assume the TurboBoost doesn't work, which, the CPU stuck at 1.6GHZ?
-
Turbo mode / Boost still doesn't work with baremetal?
No hyperthreding??

if you SSH to the server, you'll see more cores being recognized. DS3617xs itself uses a Xeon D1528 CPU, which has four cores. So, it's just reporting what it think DS3617 has. I think this is hard coded somewhere.
