Generally speaking ARPL is a better loader at all levels. It’s redesigned from scratch to overcome all previous TTG loader limitations. I also suggest everyone when possible to switch to ARPL. TTG loader has some very strict limitations that are very hard to overcome. I’m trying to redesign as well but what’s the point after all, If at the end looks exactly as ARPL ?

Without your work, an amazing work ! who helped us to upgrade easily our DSM, we were clueless and stuck, so a big thanks to you and all contributors ! i've just upgrade to last DSM and switch to ARPL, thanks to them too. You helped the same way, you roxxx ;)

I think this patch fix an issue with the USB, i've an external HDD plug on an USB3 port, and when i start a simple transfert smb/sftp/afp the transfert speed quickly slowdown, if i stress just a few the CPU the transfert come back to the original speed, it's like an energy saving mechanism.

And since this patch, transfert speed is constant and full !!

So IMHO it's the same for the boot, the BootLoader USB key slow down quickly ant take age to finish. (and maybe it fix some other things that we never saw)

    @mmonsterski You ROXXXX !

@real3x it looks like you uploaded two or more version of your extra.lzma file what is the difference if any? they seem to be the same but different in size and looks like one has some files from your mac which may or may not cause issues

Yes, the old one was a test that i post without cleaning some osx files and a duplicate file, nothing to worry, it's just dust and it's interfereless. The good one is here with instructions

    1. i had to keep extra2.lzma or no boot

If i understood well the uses of extra(s).lzma :

    - extra2 and extra are the same

    - i dont really understand the purpose of the extra2

    - if you remove a driver from extra, then it will be injected from extra 2 (thats why we need to remove extra2 if we have to boot without a driver from extra)

So if you have to keep extra2 you dont have to use a tweaked extra.

    i am current at DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 6 with Junes Loader 1.04b / DS918+ @ ASRock J-5005 ITX

did not update for some time... in last updates it seems there was a problem with intern network card.

This is why there were on this forum a thread about each update where user report a successful update or not and the hardware they use, and if you go on this thread about 6.2.2-24922 update 2 you'll find 2 guys with a j-5005-ITX and a perfectly working update.

Last update 6.2.2-24922 update 3 change nothing for LAN card so if update 2 work, update 3 work too.

So my question is does this message from ssh below mean that HW transcoding should work?

Nope, this only mean that with your serial you have activate codec for sinology soft like video station, photo station ...

For plex you can check in your plex client if you see the "HW transcoding" (like you did) or via ssh launch a htop and see if you have a line with vaapi -hwaccel ... like this :

Is not possible hardware transcoding with real3x's extra.lzma?

First, its better to use the extra in my sign, it's a clean one. (i can't edit my old post with the old extra, it work the same but there were some osx garbage inside)

Second, this extra basically just remove the Jun's i915 driver, this driver KP on some motherboard with integrated CPU. So wihtout the jun's driver DSM boot and after HW transcoding use the DSM driver and it work flawlessly for most of those motherboard, but maybe not yours, so you can try to boot with the Jun's driver and see if it boot with no KP and if the HW transcode work.

And if you cant boot because the jun's driver KP, you'll have to use an extra without it .
