  1. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 5 // ARPL v0.4-alpha5 DS918+ - Loader version and model: arpl-i18n 23.5.8 DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - GA-J3455N-D3H - Additional comments: Recreate USB loader with only serial and mac1/2 from real syno 918+ (config the loader via SSH, web console freezed) // Update via GUI with PAT file from syno // onboard LAN is ok - HW transcode is ok
  2. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 4 - Loader version and model: ARPL v0.4-alpha5 DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - GA-J3455N-D3H - Additional comments: Update via GUI with PAT file from syno // onboard LAN is ok - HW transcode is ok
  3. Without your work, an amazing work ! who helped us to upgrade easily our DSM, we were clueless and stuck, so a big thanks to you and all contributors ! i've just upgrade to last DSM and switch to ARPL, thanks to them too. You helped the same way, you roxxx
  4. Not really the subject oh this thread, but you're lucky, i caught all my bios setting before upgrading, so here they are Bios F3 - GA-j3455N-d3H.zip
  5. What a really brillant find ! MB: Gigabyte j3455N-d3H bios F3 - DSM 7.1-42661 Update 3 - Tinycore-Redpill v0.9.0.2 - DS918+ amisetupwriter 0x48A 0x3 Before the patch [ 864.010263] AtNasticot login: After the patch [ 51.619683] AtNasticot login: 💥 813 sec less !!! 🚀 I think this patch fix an issue with the USB, i've an external HDD plug on an USB3 port, and when i start a simple transfert smb/sftp/afp the transfert speed quickly slowdown, if i stress just a few the CPU the transfert come back to the original speed, it's like an energy saving mechanism. And since this patch, transfert speed is constant and full !! So IMHO it's the same for the boot, the BootLoader USB key slow down quickly ant take age to finish. (and maybe it fix some other things that we never saw) @mmonsterski You ROXXXX !
  6. It work for me : - Loader version and model: RedPill DS918+ v7.1.0 (TinyCore 0.4.6 ) - Installation type: BAREMETAL - GA-J3455N-D3H - Additional comments: Use official Synology .pat file // stock, no additional driver Real DS918+ serial with real synology account
  7. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: RedPill DS918+ v7.0.1-42218 (TinyCore 0.4.5 ) - Loader version and model: RedPill DS918+ v7.1.0 (TinyCore 0.4.6 ) - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - GA-J3455N-D3H - Additional comments: Use official Synology .pat file // stock, no additional driver
  8. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 3 - Loader version and model: RedPill DS918+ v7.0.1-42218 (TinyCore 0.4.5 ) - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Or yes, i added r8168 driver - Installation type: BAREMETAL - GA-J3455N-D3H - Additional comments: I add r8168 (not sure if it's really needed) from pocopico, thx a lot for the TinyCore and drivers dude ! // First try failed so i unplugged all usb drive, no change on the loader and it success after a very long time, like 10 min, stuck on "------------bootup-smallupdate" (boot log with serial port), but after it goes on and succeed. // onboard LAN is ok - HW transcode is ok
  9. Ok so Both r8168 (jun's and stock) drivers KP in my case (J3455N-D3H) so no eth is up after boot. And you're right, shutdown stuck at a point.
  10. Damn i'm just in the boot process to test your r8168.ko driver since the jun's one KP, you ruin my hope 20 sec later : confirmed, KP again, dsm stock have a r8168.ko driver ?
  11. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 3 - Loader version and model: Jun's Loader v1.04b DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: YES - extra without i915.ko drm_kms_helper.ko drm.ko and i915 fw - Installation type: BAREMETAL - GA-J3455N-D3H - Additional comments: 1 reboot required - onboard LAN is ok - HW transcode is ok
  12. Are we speaking about the same motherboard GA-J3455N-D3H ? For me it's working since the beginning without the jun's drivers, exactly like you do (extra.lmza file - delete extra2.lzma and cleaning out the modules) and /dev/dri is present.
  13. i915.ko drm_kms_helper.ko and drm.ko are the one from original dsm 918, FW doesn't really mater, i juste said that for the note. The story : i erased my syno i915 FW folder so i took the FW from a fedora, and it workerd with the dsm one and with the fedora one so no worry about the FW, we can swap them with another distrib.
  14. Syno DSM got his own i915 compiled drivers, and for note i swap i915 FW with the one i took on a Fedora, without problem.
  15. Hardware acceleration work with the syno i915 driver on the GA-J3455N-D3H :
  16. Yes, the old one was a test that i post without cleaning some osx files and a duplicate file, nothing to worry, it's just dust and it's interfereless. The good one is here with instructions
  17. If i understood well the uses of extra(s).lzma : - extra2 and extra are the same - i dont really understand the purpose of the extra2 - if you remove a driver from extra, then it will be injected from extra 2 (thats why we need to remove extra2 if we have to boot without a driver from extra) So if you have to keep extra2 you dont have to use a tweaked extra.

    DSM 6.2 Loader

I don't know for the J-5005-ITX, we have to ask one of the owner to test.

    DSM 6.2 Loader

This extra has nothing to do with the lan driver, it just remove the i915 jun's driver to avoid KP on last update, your motherboard probably need it.

    DSM 6.2 Loader

This is why there were on this forum a thread about each update where user report a successful update or not and the hardware they use, and if you go on this thread about 6.2.2-24922 update 2 you'll find 2 guys with a j-5005-ITX and a perfectly working update. Last update 6.2.2-24922 update 3 change nothing for LAN card so if update 2 work, update 3 work too.
  21. You have no idea what my beer's consumption can be glad it work for you
  22. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 2 - Loader version and model: Jun's Loader v1.04b DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: YES - extra without i915.ko drm_kms_helper.ko drm.ko and i915 fw - Installation type: BAREMETAL - GA-J3455N-D3H - Additional comments: 1 reboot required - onboard LAN is ok - HW transcode is ok extra.lzma
  23. Nope, this only mean that with your serial you have activate codec for sinology soft like video station, photo station ... For plex you can check in your plex client if you see the "HW transcoding" (like you did) or via ssh launch a htop and see if you have a line with vaapi -hwaccel ... like this :
  24. For me it's my admin created account. So bad to be stuck for a login First, its better to use the extra in my sign, it's a clean one. (i can't edit my old post with the old extra, it work the same but there were some osx garbage inside) Second, this extra basically just remove the Jun's i915 driver, this driver KP on some motherboard with integrated CPU. So wihtout the jun's driver DSM boot and after HW transcoding use the DSM driver and it work flawlessly for most of those motherboard, but maybe not yours, so you can try to boot with the Jun's driver and see if it boot with no KP and if the HW transcode work. And if you cant boot because the jun's driver KP, you'll have to use an extra without it .
