  1. I bought an Intel e1000e eth and installed on ASRock J3160, disabled the onboard ether, and boot up to 6.1.3, working well.

And I thought I could upgrade to 6.2, but after upgrade done, e1000e never brought up, and I could not connect to my nas anymore.

Is there any thing I forgot before upgrading to 6.2?

Or is there any way that I could reinstall without losing any data?

if you did not had the original cable and did not consult the manual you might have just have used the wrong com header ribbon cable to subd9 adapter, there are two different types usually used depending on the board vendor

I checked with multimeter, and according to manual, the ribbon cable is correct, but the output voltage was weird, I remember the tx was about 0.8v, and rx was about 0.1v.

  3. @jun Any way that we can put the boot log to the screen for the debug purpose? I failed to add rs232 connector to the com header of the motherboard, seems the output voltage is not correct, maybe the rs232 circuit was broken.

  4. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL

    - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.1.5

    - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.02b - DS916+

    - Using custom extra.lzma:

    - Installation type: ASRock J3160

    - Additional comments: REBOOT REQUIRED

i'm not that certain, if using a hardware matching to those of a 916+ and using the jun 1.02b and 916+ image it could work, at least in the fashin a normal (original) 916+ synology system is doing it, have to read about it that someone realy tryed that, everyone just writes about ffmpeg and plex

Problem solved, it is about the SN, I set the SN to the real-DS916+, and the hardware transcoding worked perfectly. Please refer to the following post.

    cat /usr/syno/etc/codec/activation.conf
    {"success":true,"activated_codec":["h264_dec","h264_enc"],"token"xxxxx"}

  6. After transferred from DS3617 to DS916+, I'm not able to play video if the video transcoding is enabled.

And even there's no ffmpeg process while I trying to play video. Previously there's no problem with DS3617 installed.

Is that related to the hardware transcoding issue? And how can I debug into this issue?

I tried with the following command without problem, except that the cpu loading is still high(4 cores with 99%).

    /var/packages/VideoStation/target/bin/ffmpeg-vaapi -hwaccel nvenc -i /volume2/video/test.mov -c:v h264 -preset:v faster /tmp/out.qsv.mp4
