    Sorry,

I should rephrase the 3rd question. find.synology.com doesn't work, and luckily i found the IP of the NAS via ipconfig (windows cmd line).

Are you running dsm 6.2 by any chance on a HP gen 7 microserver?

I was running it on a n54l until recently.

If find.synology.com doesnt work you can just use the syno assistant or check your router which ip it has assigned to your server.

    Yes, I'm using 1.03b, 3615 and 9220-8i and running fine under 6.2.1 update 4.

You nee to make sure you have a NIC that is intel e1000 based.  I bought a cheap HP NC360T ($14 shipped to my door!) as my onboard NIC was realtek based.

    Great, thanks =)

  4. Hi everyone, and thanks for all your support.

I have a HP Microserver n40l server, and I have followed all the instructions for setting up jun load 1.01. If I plug a VGA cable I see "Booting the kernel". But the problem is I cant find synology nas through find.synology.com or synology assitant. I have tried with a lot of different usb with same result. I think that this HW is supported. I have checked that my mac is fine as VID and PID. Also I have tried running wireshark in a laptop with rj45 directly connected, I cant see any dhcp request.

    How I can debug this?

    thank you!

are you selecting the amd-boot option?

  5. I just created a new boot drive with the latest loader, problem remains the same...

    EDIT : got it working!

For anyone running baremetal and experiencing trouble getting an IP with update 9, try the "AMD" boot entry on the boot menu, even if you're not using AMD hardware.

I also did this, worked for me too.. thanks!

Im running bare metal on a N54l

  6. I'm using an HP N40L and using the same boot loader but after updating to update 9 the server won't responding anymore. Did an hard reset and im stuck at the following screen. How can i fix this?

    early console in decompress_kernel

decompressing Linux... Parsing ELF... Parsing ELF Overlay... done.

    Booting the kernel.

After more than an hour waiting there's no progress and synology assistant can't find the NAS anymore even when i've my laptop connected directly to the NAS. The NAS has an static IP even from the router with it's MAC address.

Does somebody have some tips for me?

I dont have mine connected to a screen.. isnt it possible to alt+f2 a terminal, login as your user.. sudo -i

    and then ifconfig something up?

  7. I solved mine "no-eth-connection problem" only by following these steps:

    1. Login as root

    2. type su

    3. ifconfig eth0

    4. type ifconfig eth0 IPofNAS netmask 255.255.255.0 up -> now you can connect via browser on the given ip

    5. Login in DSM in Browser

Yes this works, but not after a reboot (for me anyway)
