Quello che voleva dire richie e che non si può negare e che una volta messo su funziona tutto che è una bomba. Poi però se ci affidi i tuoi dati ogni volta che aggiorni devi mettere in conto di avere un backup altrimenti potresti perdere tutto!

Io ce l'ho da un po e non ho mai aggiornato. Ti consiglio di aggiornare solo in caso di problemi.Scusa se approfitto della tua disponibilità... Per caso c'è qualche aggiornamento da fare al server prima di installarci xpenology? Tipo firmware

Nemmeno sembra acceso... É silenziosissimo. É come fosse un synology a tutti gli effetti, l'unica cosa che non puoi utilizzare è il quickconnect. Per raggiungere da fuori casa il NAS. Ma a questo si rimedia facilmente con un dns dinamico (ddns; no-ip...)Grazie mille [emoji4]...
Altre due domande, Una volta installato è come se fosse un vero NAS Synology con tutte le sue funzioni o gli manca qualcosa?
Il microserver, è rumoroso per una camera ?

La parte che ti fa perdere più tempo e la lettera e la comprensione del tuturial. Per il resto dopo che hai ben chiaro cosa ti occorre e cosa fare, l'installazione la fai in 10 minuti e non è una cosa complicatissima.Buonasera,
dopo anni vorrei comprarmi un NAS e dopo varie ricerche mi sono imbattuto nel microserver HP. Ora vi chiedo, è molto complicato installarci Xpenology e configurarlo o meglio andare direttamente con un NAS puro?
Vorrei usarlo come File storage e media player, con possibilità di accesso dall'esterno, magari via smartphone.
Altra domanda, è tanto rumoroso? devo tenerlo in camera mia, almeno i primi periodi.
Tenete presente che dedicarci del tempo non mi darebbe fastidio, basta non doverci mettere dei giorni [emoji3]
Ho preso in considerazione questo HP perché costa poco e ha piu possibilità rispetto ad un nas di pari prezzo, e sopratutto è espandibile.

Premesso che io non sono un guru al riguardo, ti lascio il mio punto di vista.
Stabilità: io ho il base del gen8 con xpenology da circa 6 mesi, ho effettuato anche diversi aggiornamenti e adesso ho l'ultima versione di DSM. Al momento non ho riscontrato problemi di stabilità.
Vantaggi di potenza: considera che i qnap base o i synology base hanno 1/4 di potenza HW e il mestiere di NAS lo svolgono più che egregiamente. Xeon e tanta RAM secondo me ti servono solo se vuoi virtualizzare o decodificare video.
Chiavetta: indispensabile c'è il boot loader del sistema
Cache SSD: con un solo disco fai cache in sola lettura. Dovrebbe funzionare ma io personalmente non l'ho testato. Se ci provi, fammi sapere

Al momento mi sto trovando davvero bene.

Note: After update I waited I while then I performed an hard reset (reboot).All seems working.

Make a backup of your data!!
Then, You need access to virtual serial through the iLo and the last synoboot.img (1.02b)
Try to boot the server with the new image and perform the recovery suggested.
Perform the update and reboot.
Probably you lose network driver, to recovery, you need to access to console by iLo and to copy some files . You can find a tutorial for our server to do this.

I managed to solve this silly issue...
I had disabled DHCP on my router and I enabled it on DSM.
The new image need a DHCP to boot correctly, so I re-enabled it on my router and when it boot I did a recovery (proposed by dsm) and a reboot again.
Everything works good now! -

I managed to solve
I managed to access to virtual serial console following instructions found in this thread.
So, I had login into my NAS and by "sudo -i" I had root access.After that I did these two commands
cp /lib/modules/update/libphy.ko /lib/modules/ cp /lib/modules/update/tg3.ko /lib/modules/finally I rebooted DSM and Networ starting working again.

Create a custom DDNS, configure it in DSM and then configure your firewall(s) accordingly. That's all that needs to be done and you will be able to access your box from outside your home network.
For using DDNS you still need white dynamic IP
If you don't have white dynamic IP and can't configure ISP's hardware (expected) - vpn/tunnel is single way to access [emoji38]
What is white dynamic ip? Even google doesn't know anything about it.
You need only an account to one of the ddns service available for free and than you need to configure it in your dsm. That's all.

For Microserver Gen8 Baremetal i updated from DS3615xs with DSM 6.1-15047 Update 2 to DSM 6.1.1-15101 but it didnt work. The reason is, that the network card will not get loaded on startup. the system does only have the lo interface an nothing else.
i helped myself by doing a "force install" [NOT Migrate (you will loose your settings)] with DSM 6.1.1-15101 and afterwards updated to Update 1.
Attention: The system hung after the update to "Uodate 1" and i had to powerreset the system. afterwards ot bootet successfully with update 1 installed.
It work for me too! I update to "Update 2" without issue. All seems to work for now, (even package installation)

Anyone tried to update to 6.1.1-15101-2 version?
Updated Gen8 baremetal to 6.1.1-15101 Update 2. Reboot required. Everything seems okay. All Packages and services are working.
Is it possibile to update from 6.0.2? Can you tell how? Thanks.
