Gizmo, if you need some help on the ESX side let me know. Also, you can probably run 6.5 on that 54xx.
I managed to install 6.5 and run Xpenology. The problem now is when i want to start the innstalation of .pat I get: No hdd found 😕
I think the controller may not be supported. If am not wrong I think it is Smart Array E200 controller....
Im running on this one: hp proliant ml350 g5 server xeon quad-core e5420 2.50ghz -
Thanks a lot for taking time to respond.
I tried to install ESXI 6.7 but cpu xeon 5420 not supported 😳
But I understand much more now on how to proceed. Will try again.
Appreciate it, thanks. 😊

Hello.
Ive been a member for many years and have success in running baremetal
Cuurently running Baremetal Intel S5500HCV DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 4
Now i am trying to setup an: hp proliant ml350 g5 server xeon quad-core e5420 2.50ghzOf what I understand this cant be run as Baremetall.
So I found this tutorial:All make sence untill here:
Quotesave file, dismount all and exit.
???????
ESXi part:
Upload synoboot.vmdk and synoboot.img to esxi (in one folder)
It assumes the user has knowledge of ESXI i suppose...
I know loader has a ESXI option on boot.
I know that its about VMWare
But, I dont understand how to use ESXI. (VMWare)
Do I make a bootable usb, as in baremetall. and boot the server?
Do I install ESXI on the server first or local on my PC?
Where do I find the correct versions?
Hope someone can clarify for me. -
In the tutorial i feel there is missing something between here:
Quotesave file, dismount all and exit.
???????
ESXi part:
Upload synoboot.vmdk and synoboot.img to esxi (in one folder)
I have NO experience with ESXI.
I have followed the tut untill here, but now confused. I have done this several times with my other server that runs 6.2.2, just not with ESXI
What to do. Where do I install ESXI and run it? How do I include the 2 files? Wich folder.
Sorry to be a complete noob -
A little bit off but you think this solution will work with HP PROLIANT ML350 G5 ?
I installed junes loader 1.03b and ds3615 6.2.2-24922
I installed second Nettwork card Intell based wich I edited in grub.cfg as MAC2:XXXXXXXXXXXX
The onboard set as MAC1:XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Starts up and appears quickly in find.synology.com, but it cant find HDD . I have HDD in 4bays
I have tried in the 1 sata port as well, no luck -

You install 6.2 or 6.2.1?
For 6.2 you can create extra.lzma with drivers you need.
For 6.2.1 no solution yet.

Thank you, but I dont know how to compile drivers.. :/
I am on 6.1.6-15266 with 1.02b
Should I just wait? -

I have 2 questions, guys.
1. After i mounted (by OSF mount) to adjust SN, MAC, VID, PID in grub file, I burnt the img into a USB drive by Rufus. Finally, I found out I keyed in a typo my MAC. I wanted to correct it in grub file but I couldn't see my USB drive anymore when I hook it up to my Windows 10 desktop. I could see my USB drive in Disk Management thou. Please help.
2. My baremetal Nas has 12 HDDs, should I leave SataPortMap=1 (as default) or change to 12 in grub?
Thanks for your prompt replies. I appreciate it.
Question 1:
You probably have to do it all over again. To see your USB drive you need to do a clean and format.
This is done by using diskpart in cmd.
Open cmd (Command line)
Type -diskpart-
then -list disk-
then select the USB disk. Example. -select disk 1-
Then -clean-
Then -create partition primary-
Now you can see the USB drive and format as usual in windows by right clicking and selectin -Format- -
I get: No hard disk found.

Hello.
I did migrate back to 3615, but back again to 3617. I cant see any significance increase in performance.
So I think I will stay on 3617 because of my processors: -Xeon- -

S5500HCV Baremetall 2 X Intel Xeon 2.16Ghz, 12Gb Ram DS3617xs 1.02b loader 6.1.3-15152 Update 8 Ok!!!

I have a question regarding models.
Running baremetal: DS3617XS 1.0.2b and 6.1.3 15152 Update1
Before I had ds3615xs installed. I migrated to ds3617xs becouse of my 2X Xeon prosessors. (2 X 2.16 quad)
The thing i found out is that synocomunity and others dont support ds3617xs with their packages.
I run Docker for some of these packages, but should I, or not, migrate back to ds3615xs with my prosessors in mind?
Another thing that occured is that my 12Gb ram, was reduced to 8Gb ram after migrating to ds3617xs. That might be hardware fault, not sure.
Thank you. -

Anyone having trouble accessing files via windows. Samba?
Now all working. No clue why. Might have been something with my network.... -

It seems I had some trouble getting SMB to work with Kodi aswell, but the problem was solved when changing the settings in DSM to allow for SMB1 to be the minimum required version. When you set it higher SMB shares won't work with Kodi, tried with latest versions on both Android and LibreElec, so I gues they don't support newer versions of SMB.
Well mine was set to that by default. Still dont know why I dont get connection. In windows Network it discovers "Synology" but cant access.... ????
Error reports that Synology dosent answer -
