  1. After update to DSM 5.0-4493 Update 3 and some reboot, I've lost permission for some my own folders. I can not change folder permission also.

I created new User (admin group) but can not apply R/W permission for these folders.

What should I do now?

    Thank you very much!

  2. I have another issue but with DSM 4.3.

Everything works fine but I can't change the Mac adress. I succeded to download and modify the vendor file via winscp but I'm unable to replace the original file (the SD card is not protected), I have a denied permission to modify this file.

    Do you have an idea?

Log in as root, not admin. root password same as admin password.

  3. I read somewhere that there is no need to modify serial / MAC if you have only 1 DSM and not requiring WOL.

So I installed the package with default settings.

However, when I set the DS CAM, I already received some motion detection alert from other DSM devices, even though I disabled all my Camera.

I also receive some alert email that were totally non-sense to me. Like hdd overheat (where I uses ESXi so no SMART status could be detected).

Is this something like notification center that will remeber some of the key for broadcasting DSM system message?

How can I prevent? thanks alot.

Same problem and same solution: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1826

  4. I just wanted to see if anyone might know how the synology system determines to spin the drive backup and if it's controllable.

My drives spin down fine at the pre-determined time in the settings, however, once spun down, it sometimes randomly spins backup. I want to see what others' experience has been like on this subject.

    I have a HP N40L with 6 x 2TB drives, running on DSM 4.2 Trantor 1.2 repack

Otherwise it's working well...minus OpenVPN, I've wasted a lot of time trying to get it to work with certificates and haven't had any luck.

May be "Download Station" is running...

  5. I just bought N54L and I am going to give DSM4.3 a try. I have been reading a lot but I could not find an answer to this question: How much memory is needed to run DSM4.3? I have read that to run FreeNAS you need 8G or 16G in order to get good performance (caching ZFS data). Does more memory help DSM performance-wise? is the 2G RAM good enough for streaming one 1080P video?

    Thanks,

    Jed

For me 512MB is enough for run DSM 4.3 and 20+ packages

  6. This is because you are not in Debian.

Did you install (Package center) Perl and Debian Chroot ?

    To enter debian after installation:

    chroot /volume1/@appstore/debian-chroot/var/chroottarget/ /bin/bash

Wow, you just not remind that we need install Perl

I was followed your guide and DSM notify

    'Dear user,

The system has detected an abnormality on ABC. In order to protect your data, all volumes have been unmounted. Please contact the Synology support team for further assistance.

    Sincerely, Synology DiskStation'

Now it still running but I cannot reach the web interface... I don't know what I'm wrong

If you have some free time, please recheck your guide and an automatic install script may have newbie (as me) a lot. Thank you!

  7. Hello

Sorry to have a noob question, i am under Proxmox and when i am connected to the Syno via winscp,

and i dont have any /volumeUSB1/usbshare

So i don't know where i can find vender file.

If someone can help me, it would be glad.

    Thx

    Batgod

Sorry but I never ever use Proxmox. I think volume name just as same or maybe named with different suffix number (eg. /volumeUSB2/ or /volumeUSB3/...)
