  1. DiskStation> cat /etc/exports

    /volume1/music *(rw,async,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure,anonuid=0,anongid=0)
    /volume1/photo *(rw,async,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure,anonuid=0,anongid=0)
    /volume1/video *(rw,async,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure,anonuid=0,anongid=0)

You have "root_squash", I have "no_root_squash". You have "insecure_locks", I have "insecure". The latter one for me is on purpose otherwise it seems XBMC cannot access it (following this wiki).

Right now I have no access to my DS, will post the output of the command "ps |grep nfsd" later.

  2. You can reset it to factory default via control panel.

But when you use DSM to do a complete format and reinstall, the executing DSM-files will not be deleted, because which files will be performing the format? I am also looking for a completely fresh system, I have been busy ruining mine via the console. In what way can I completely reformat the disks, including the DSM-install, and start all over again. I want to be sure ALL files from DSM are wiped from my disks.

  3. The one posted by Gerbenz worked straight away on my n54l. Even USB works without any tweaking.

Well, I've updated to 4.2.3211, but still no NFS for me. I do not have a file named /etc/rc. There is a file named rc.local, is that the one I need to modify? Further, when I do this command I get the following output:

    DiskStation> insmod /lib/modules/auth_rpcgss.ko
insmod: can't insert '/lib/modules/auth_rpcgss.ko': File exists

I ain't getting any further for now. Any help appreciated!

  4. Hi, is anyone using NFS exports on their N40? I tested with the VMware image and the NFS worked fine. On the N40, the exports show up but cannot be accessed. I've tried editing the exports file but still no joy-settings the same as the way I set up on the VM. The only difference is that I'm running the N40 DSM image instead of the generic one.

Can anyone help? Everything else is working perfectly.

    Thanks in advance.

I am having the exact same problem. The NFS-shares show up in XBMC and on my Windows machine, but they are not accessible because of rights. I set up my NAS following this wiki.

When I ssh to my Apple TV with XBMC running:

    atv@crystalbuntu:~$ sudo showmount -e 192.168.178.9
    Export list for 192.168.178.9:
    /volume1/video *
    /volume1/photo *
    /volume1/music *

All seems well..... But when I try to access it via XBMC, the log says the following:

    14:39:36 T:3008325440 ERROR: GetDirectory - Error getting nfs://192.168.178.9/volume1/video/

But the rights should be good on the HP N54L:

    DiskStation> cat /etc/exports

    /volume1/music *(rw,async,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure,anonuid=0,anongid=0)
    /volume1/photo *(rw,async,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure,anonuid=0,anongid=0)
    /volume1/video *(rw,async,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure,anonuid=0,anongid=0)

The services are not labelled on the DiskStation, is that a problem?

    From the XBMC:

    atv@crystalbuntu:~$ rpcinfo -p 192.168.178.9

       100024 1 tcp 47944 status

I read on this forum this article, but no luck following those instructions. Is NFS just broken on the ported DSM on an HP N54L? Are more people having this issue?
