Niels_J Posted February 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2016 Hi, I'm new to all this, but I finally succeded installing DSM 5.2-5644-2 on a bare metal Gen8 MicroServer. Now I've put in a single WD Red 2TB drive, and I can see it in the system, but it's not used. So here's my complete n00b-question: How do I mount it or enable the system to actually use the disk? When opening FileStation I can only use the USB stick with DSM on it. Do I HAVE to instal VMware, iESXC and whatnot? Thanks in advance
jadie Posted February 12, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) Its easy. You go into main menu -> Storage Manager -> Volumes -> Click on "Create" button. If you select to scan(or map) for bad block or something similar it will take some time. Otherwise you can create your new disk within minutes. Once disk is mounted, go into main menu -> control panel -> Shared Folders -> Create -> select your new disk(Volume1) and that's its. Now you can access it from network. Niels_J Posted February 12, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted February 12, 2016 I think I found it. The menu "Disk Group" just above HDD/SSD seems to be the place to click :-D
