Several choices you did could lower your chances to have the DSM booting:

    - DS923+ is designed for AMD Ryzen R1600

    - i915 driver (is for the iGPU not related to the NIC) to my knowledge the fork from 9th gen. driver is maximum for Intel Core 10th gen., so don't expect to exploit the UHD Graphics 770 (and as Synology most probably won't release anything for Gen. 11, 12, etc... as they go now with AMD). So forget about any transcoding, except with a Plex Pass subscription

    - Your onboard NIC is Realtek RTL8125BG, not the best chipset in the 2,5Gb/s world, but at least it works on DS918+

Hi, I tried the DS923+ as well and it was the same result. It was mentioned the issue could be i915 but I'm not so sure that is the problem. Waiting for a new version of RR to be released with more debug to determine the exact issue. I disabled the onboard NIC, using an intel nic for testing, makes no difference either in the results with the crashing/kernel panic.

  2. That option was recommended by the devleoper. It is in there as an option but it made no difference.

Even older versions are not working. Could be a compatiblity issue but no way to know b/c the logs are not recorded when the bootloader crashes right after it gives you the connection IP.

Is there another way to capture logs?

  3. HELP --- I downloaded the latest ARPL. When to install on MSI MPG760I and intel i5-12500 and it gets to the point of Booting the Kernel and just freezes and nothing happens. I can see i can no longer ping the system either so it is like the kernel panic and froze the system. Is there any way I can get log after a reboot that would help narrow down the problem? I've disabled the onboard Realtek Nic and have a simple intel Nic, I don't know if it is related to i915 drivers?

    Any help is appreciated

  4. Hi, trying this method, however I run into an issue after this loads to install DSM all of a sudden the screen goes blank and ping connectivity is lost to the hardware.

Could this be related to i915 driver?

  5. I'm looking to upgrade a legacy system so our use case is very specific.

    1. 4TB is more than enough for us for how we use and upload files etc.

    2. No need for raid, backups are done to external disk away from NAS for disaster recovery and without Raid less complicated setup. (KISS methodology has served well for over a decade, not looking to change habit or use case)

    3. Possible but it offers built in 10gbe and a NVMe m.2 can be used as primary drive. I'm actually leaning towards just building my own system ITX if possible which has built in 10gbe. I'm less concerned about price and building it to last and work. I'm just unsure of the installation of Xpenology on what hardware etc. I still need to do quite a bit of reading up on how it can be installed and if there is caveats etc.

    4. Will never use Cloud for security reasons and privacy purposes.

If anything I'm leaning towards building a small system, in which case would need to know if there is any limitations I should be aware of ie drivers etc with DSM?

  6. Hi,

I have a very reliable synology nas I have been using for 10 years. Looking to get something more modern which is a little faster.

Was looking at 723+ but than I realized it is a simple AMD processor and no hardware encoding (not critical), so i have a spare Intel NUC i7 NUC7i7BNH i thought could I use this and load DSM and that is when I stumbled on this site.

Doing a search for this model NUC nothing came up so I figured I would ask if any one has done it and if it is possible?

    Thoughts?
