you should migrate to 3617 (change loader and reinstall with 3617 pat file)

3615 has a kernel config of max 8 cores and your 6 + HT (=12) is above that limit, 3617 has a default kernel limit of 16

also if 6.2.0 (23739)  with its default extra.lzma (drivers) is working for you, you can install 6.2.3 instead, "old" drivers work again in 6.2.3, there is also a extended version of the extra.lzma with newer and more drivers for 6.2.3 if needed

So I didn't have much luck with 6.2.3 - any time tried to transfer data to the machine over the network, it just kinda carked it. File transfer would fail, then the device became unresponsive.

Tried reinstalling a couple of times and after the initial firmware upload, the next reboot the device wasn't available on the network.

I haven't tried the extras file yet as I haven't read how to add it properly.

    Back on 6.2-23739 for now

  2. Hi all, new member here. Recently got a DS420j and have loaded it up with 4x4tb Seagate Ironwolf in RAID6.

I had a spare Dell Precision T3500 laying about, specs -

    Xeon W3690 - 6core 12 thread 3.46GHz

    24GB ECC DDR3

    2x WD RED 2TB

    1x 256GB Samsung 850EVO SATA SSD

Have been able to install DSM using the 3615 MBR Loader and DSM 6.2-23739.

I've used https://github.com/FOXBI/ch_cpuinfo to show correct CPU info and everything looks to be working for the most part. There isn't going to be important data on this thing - I have configured RAID0 with the Reds, BTRFS, added the SSD as RO cache, installed VMM, Docker.

Anyone else running a CPU as old as this? Anything I should watch out for?
