  1. Hardware: QNAP TVS-671

    Install Type: Baremetal

    NIC Model: Intel e1000

    Storage: Virtual QEMU

Issue: Not able to assign USB

Hi to all, in QNAPs virtualization station it is not possible to add USB device with .img for KVM/Baremetal.

The only way to get it working is download ESXi ovf and import it as virtual new machine, but changing MAC/Serial makes it little strange to get it working and find on network, few times reboot, boot to config tool, set IP, reboot, then IP is not set, but obviously getting IP from DHCP and then it is working and able to install

Big thumb up for creating bootable ISO, i dont know where configs are stored and if they will be editable with ISO boot.

Next thing is to get console view without serial output, i believe it will be possible

Off course my donation to this project will be on its way, im fan of this, running 2 big qnaps but running virtual Syno on them

  2. Hi all,

anyone tryied to import VM into QNAP Virtualization Station?

    Im getting this error: (0.00/100%)\\rqemu-img: Could not open /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/VirtualPC/Syno6/DS3615xs/synoboot.vmdk: Invalid extent lines:RW 102400 VMFS synoboot.img 0# The Disk Data Base #DDBddb.adapterType = lsilogicddb.deletable = trueddb.encoding = UTF-8ddb.longContentID = 7e24a756b77e33e24ac940cc6ccf51e5ddb.thinProvisioned = 1ddb.uuid = 60 00 C2 9a ee da ca 33-df 5e 04 3f 80 55 f9 62ddb.virtualHWVersion = 10

When i create own virtual machine without importing and then try to start i get this:

(0x1) internal error: process exited while connecting to monitor: 2016-11-13T12:42:09.320176Z qemu-system-x86_64: -drive file=/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/VirtualPC/Syno6/DS3615xs/synoboot.img,if=none,id=drive-ide0-0-0,format=qcow2,cache=writeback: Image is not in qcow2 format .

Image is not in qcow2 format?

    Thanks for any suggestions, Vitek

    EDIT: Figured it out...

First what is needed is to modify .vmx file, because VMware ESXi does not support HW version 12, just edit it to 11 or 10. Then there is no prolem to import it to ESXi and afterwards export OVF template. I exported it as OVA and imported do Qnap. If anyone is interrested i can share link with ova.

  3. Hi all,

today i tryied to import VM into ESXi 5.1 - no luck, because it does not support HW ver 11 so i need to upgrade to ESXi 6...

Next i tryied to import into QNAP Virtualization Station, import OK, but it does not boot up, tested IDE mode, SCSI, SATA, no luck, still only booting from hard disk at console. It is based on QEMU i think...

  4. You got it b0fh, there is quite big improvement in live view and playback,i have four cams (bought licences),same cams as i installed at my friends home,on ds216 with latest version it runs like a charm and my older one tooks really long to show up live view from all cams, mostly then wont come up at all...

This is the reason why i want new build...

  5. Hi to all,

today i found strange thing...My friend has native DS216+ and he has got version of SS 7.1 build 4141, on xpeno im running still on 4122.

If i look into official download section for syno (https://dedl.synology.com/download/spk/ ... ceStation/) then build 4141 was not released for bromolow, same as 7.2 versions.

It is something against xpenology or they are releasing bromolow at later time then all another?

    Thank you, Vitek

  6. Great work guys,

but one more question, i had Supermicro X10SLH with additional SATA card. Xpenology virtualised on ESXi, add card passed thru to xpenology, worked fine

What brand / model is the SATA card?

Its a cheap Axago PCES-SA4 but it is only 2 port adapter (4 ports, 2 internal, 2 external, but they are switchable and only two are active...)

So i wanted to raise storage capacity via integrated LSI 2308 passed thru to xpenology but i cant figure that out...:-/

  7. Great work guys,

but one more question, i had Supermicro X10SLH with additional SATA card. Xpenology virtualised on ESXi, add card passed thru to xpenology, worked fine, now i changed board for Supermicro X10SL7-F with onboard LSI 2308 (flashed to IT), passed thru, it boots up and first welcome install screen appears...it looks that it found drives connected, but it cant access them, no config found, also cant install to those drives connected to 2308, xpenology restarts with some errors, when i connect drives back to add card (stupid cheap SATA card) it founds config and boots normally...:-/

Btw, when i disconnect drives attached to 2308 reboot, install screen appears and tells me that no drives found...So it knows about LSI...but...

    Any ideas?
