[DSM 6.2 Loader]

Is there a way to get VirtIO drivers in 1.04? I can't get much over 2Gbps with e1000e (DS3617xs)...

[DSM 6.2 Loader]

DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 2 on Proxmox 5.4-6, Loader 1.03b, DS3617xs, upgraded from DSM 6.2.2-24922 via DSM. FLAWLESS! o/

 

Running on 16 cores out of my 20 (dual E5-2680v2), with hyperthreading disabled (still wish I could use all cores), and with 64GB RAM assigned to it!

Is there a benefit to using any model over any other, i.e. 918+ vs 3617xs, for instance? Why is the new loader (1.04b) for 918+ only? Is the goal to have people eventually move on to that model as the "standard" for this loader, and Xpenology?

Same boat here: I just want to manage my virtual machines on DSM vs outside. Commenting on "why do you need all that power on a NAS" is pretty irrelevant and annoying, especially when Synology has been doing so much work into making DSM useful for WAAAAY more than "just a NAS", especially with Docker and Virtual Machine support.

 

So, is it possible to increase the max cores?

Are we losing any performance from using e1000e and not VirtIO? I wonder if I could just passthrough a 10GBE PCI adapter (one of the Synology-approved ones) and use that instead…
