[Multiple drive controller card question]

Any issues with...

 

a)  Running 2 or more drive controller cards of the same type/model to increase drive capacity?

 

b)  Running 2 or more drive controller cards of different manufacturers/models?

 

My questions are assuming that the controller cards are compatible to begin with--just trying to understand if I can throw a few 8-port cards in to support a 16-bay case (assuming I make the appropriate config changes in the software to get past the 12 drive limit).

[Adaptec HBA 1100-16i not seeing hard drives]

Been searching for answers, and thinking this card may not be compatible out of the box. 

 

Anyone here using an Adaptec HBA 1100 successfully?  I'm running the 6.2 BETA.
