    One question for the one that have upgraded. I've used your image and could upgrade my N54L to the 4493 version. No data nor configuration lost. But if I open Synology Assistant again, I see my XPenology as "Not configured"! Is that appearing to you too? With older versions I can see my XPenology as "Ready". I can use it normally, access my apps, shares, etc.

    gnoboot & DSM 5.0-4482 - Experiences?

    I was able to install the stock 5.0 DSM-4482.pat (downloaded from Synology) as follows:

     

    gnoboot > fresh install stock 4458 > reboot > boot using nanoboot 5.0.2.2-fat (sees the box as a 3612xs, 5.0.2.4 thinks its a 214play) > nano boot option >upgrade -DSM 4482< > install stock 4482 from synology.

     

    My system is a homebuilt NAS box with an intel chip asus mobo....

     

    FYI -

     

    I already had the original 5.0 Beta from Trantor installed with a 5 disk (3TB each) SHR volume and a bunch of apps installed so I wanted to test it before I ran it on my existing build.

     

    I removed all the drives and tested it all from a scratch install with a usb thumb drive and a single 320GB HDD. After verifying that it worked, i put all my drives back in and booted my existing install (DSM 5 beta) with gnoboot. I installed 4458 (selecting the 'migrate" option to keep all my data) i then rebooted and installed the 4482 stock update.

     

    My apps, 11.0 TB SHR and all settings were persistent (with the exception of my static IP)! YMMV...

    Which Apps did you have installed?? I thought that we must reinstall extra packages like "Plex Media Server", "Audio Station", etc. If they persist after migration I will do it!

    hi,

     

    just a little question: When everything is working fine, is it possible to install the gnoBoot on the main hard disk partition to not use the usb key anymore ?

     

    I plan to transfer the result on a hosted server, and I can't plug any usb key on it.

    Actualizar DSM 4.3 a 5.0

    No haría falta pasar por la beta. Estando en 4.3 de trantor, se hace el pendrive con gnoboot y al arrancar, en el Synology assistant se verá en status "migratable". Por cierto, con la Alpha 10.5 de gnoboot parece que desaparece el disco de la bahía de 5.25 en un N54L. A esperar nos toca. Un saludo por fin en español! :grin:

     

    Entonces, si queremos mover el disco de 250 Gb que viene con el N54L a la bahia de 5.25 debemos usar la Alpha 10.4 de Gnoboot??

     

    Gracias. Todavía esperando a que me llegue el N54L que he pedido con 4 Gb extra de RAM y 4x3Tb WD Red NAS.... Que ansias!!

     

    Yo he actualizado ya a la 10.5 de gnoboot y me ve el disco sin problemas. Eso sí, BIOS actualizada a la última versión con las opciones ocultas habilitadas y los parámetros cambiados para tener la velocidad máxima en los 6 puertos SATA. Creo que ahí está el problema, con la BIOS "oficial" de HP, el disco de la bahía de 5.25 no está como AHCI, por eso supongo que dejará de verlo, pero como digo con las opciones ocultas modificadas funciona sin problemas!

    Me alegro hombre, para eso estamos. Por cierto, aprovecho para decir que Synology modificó el Update 2 el día 9 de Abril para incorporar la solución al Heartbleed. Si actualizásteis antes de ese día al Update 2, conectad por SSH, editáis el fichero /etc.defaults/VERSION y poned un "1" en lugar de un "2" como estará en el parámetro smallfixnumber. Después de eso, volved a actualizar siguiendo el mismo proceso. Un saludo! :wink:

    chanquete69, no puedo loguearme como root a través del DSM, con "root" como user y el mismo password que el de "admin".

    Puedo loguearme con Terminal, e intento ejecutar lo de antes. El mensaje:

     

    sed: /autoupd@te.info: No such file or directory

    DiskStation> mv /autoupd@te.info1 /autoupd@te.info

     

    Me explico mejor:

     

    Vas a Actualizar DSM y pinchas sobre actualización manual. Le das el fichero del Update 2. Al subirlo a la cabina, saltará un mensaje avisando de que la cabina se reiniciará para aplicar la actualización. En ese momento, dejando el popup como está, sin aceptar ni cancelar, te conectas por ssh con el usuario root y ejecutas esos 2 comandos.

    Yo lo he intentado con gnoboot y DSM 5.0 en entorno virtual con ESXi 5.5 y no hay forma de hacerlo funcionar. Rellenas bien todo el asistente de configuración, pero al darle al botón de finalizar dice que ha habido un error y que intente cerrar la sesión y volverla a abrir...

    I want to expand the server a little bit more using another PCIe 4 port SATA card with this 5.25 to 4x2.5 adapter:

    A mí tampoco me funciona la actualización al update 2, me dice que el archivo puede estar corrupto.

     

    Curiosamente, en actualizaciones automáticas me dice que "Su versión de DSM está actualizada".

     

    Has ejecutado estos comandos cuando sale el popup de que al actualizar se reiniciará la diskstation?

     

    sed ‘s/flashupdateDeb/flashupdateDeb1/’ /autoupd@te.info > /autoupd@te.info1

    mv /autoupd@te.info1 /autoupd@te.info

     

    Importante ejecutarlos con el usuario "root". Si os conectáis a la NAS como admin os dará el error de permisos.

    Thanks gnoboot for your 10.5 update.

     

    I have updated to 10.5, but unlucky, I have a SATA HD connected on the original DVDROM sata connector, and that disk couldn't be found after the upgrade, I tried both vanilla and modified version, all failed, then I switched back to 10.4 and the disk was back.

     

    I am using N40L.

     

    Thank you for the advise!! That disk is very important for me and I can't loose it! Will stay in 10.4 until more information.
