I am on intel, need to ask will this be an issue for me as well?

Most likely not as what I understand from the other posts in this forum.

What seams to be a problem with 1.02b and AMD?

I have tried yesterday upgrade (from DSM 5.2) and clean install on older box with AMD E-350 with Realtek NIC and it worked both ways. Volumes deleted and created, PM and WOL work too once I've used real MAC address. It reports i3 CPU as well  known, but otherwise everything looks normal. I have also HP N54L with 6.02 running but not sure if it safe to upgrade yet.

The problem with my N54L is that if I use any newer loader then 1.01 (e.g. 1.02b) then the box is not visible in network. Cannot see it using web not using Synology Assistant. And the problem of 1.01 is that is supports only DSM 6.0.2

    +6.

I try to find another machine with same size and same functions... Nothing...
A solution is to buy a G8, and take a Xeon.

Personnaly, i put ESXI on my N40L and use the last loader.
But i cannot do everything ... (HA Cluster doesn't work...)

    +7 for AMD support

I think there is still plenty of people having the older HP Gen7 with AMD as it is small and fast enough for NAS.

Using ESXI is possible, but I need to sacrifice one disk for VM Datastore instead of using it for data.

The Dell Vostro 230 is nornally using the Broadcom NetLink 57788 controller although you would need to confirm that. The module for that controller should be the broadcom tg3 and looking into the ramdisk of v1.02b it is there.

The best way to know what is happening is to see the boot logs through a serial cable and a console.

Thanks for checking this, but this was mixed with other post from MarcHT91 who is using this Dell Vostro 230. In my case it is the HP Gen7 N36L which you commented is not supported as it is AMD. Would you have any information if the support is at least planned to be added back in some future versions (as it was there in 1.01)? Or do I have only possibility to use ESXI to run it?

It doesn't works. All ok with 6.0.2 and 1.01 but it doesn't appears on the network after flashing 1.02b

    Same here :(

WIth any newer loader (tested on 1.02a and 1.02b) then 1.01 it just displays:

    Intro: blablabla :)

    ...

    Decompressing Linux... Parsing ELF... done.

    Booting the kernel.

Then the light on the flashdrive turns off immediatelly after the Booting the kernel message and nothing happens any more, invisible on LAN.

I even tried to burn the synoboot.img directly without touching it and then configuring using grub command, but the same situation.

I have also tried to disconnect all HDDs but nothing changes.

I hope somebody will come with some idea...

    Thanks.

  6. I have not updated any DSM yet. I have the old 5.2 there but this is test machine so it does not matter. I just wanted to test the new 1.02b loader.

I followed the instructions exactly as in the first post. Modified the grub.cfg with all the VID/PID, SN and MAC information. I also tried 2 variants, first with keeping the original extra.lzma as comes in 1.02b for ds3615xs synoboot.img and second with replacing the extra.lzma with the one linked in the tutorial. But the result is still the same. The machine boots beyond the point where there is no more info on the screen. But then it cannot be found by the Synology Assistant.

I tried this with all the loaders but the only one which was visible in the Synology Assistant is the 1.01. So possibly I can use this one, but then I can install just the 6.0.2, right?

  7. I tried 1.02b with my N36L (HP G7) baremetal but I cannot see it in the Synology Assistance. The only loader which worked for N36L baremetal was the 1.01. Did anybody managed to make the 1.02b working with N36L baremetal?
