thinks for the suggestion but I figured it out. The issue is that photostation does not work on HTTPS for some odd reason. It only works on HTTP. Because I am enforcing the DSM to work on HTTPS, the photo station was not working. As soon as I removed the S (or just use HTTP instead), it worked. Dont know why it does not work on HTTPS. but as long as its working on HTTP instead, I am fine with it.

one more question, my photo station has stopped working from outside my home network. Anyone has any clue about that? I have defined public port 80 to go to my server's port 5000, public port 443 to go to 5001 (for https) but for some reason I just cannot access the photo station from outside. It just says the page you are looking for is not found. Any ideas?

if that does not help, boot from the usb again, but in install/upgrade mode. Do the same first steps as done by normal install and choose migration. Then pay attention to the next step in choosing the option for the volume. Select the one that suggest that you are moving you volume from one synology to a new synology and thus keeping you're data and programms. Then after a reboot you are good to go again and al the programms etc are still there, but without update 4. That worked as a charm for me. Had the same issue even after multiple reboots.

i installed update 4 last night, it appeared that it installed fine but after the restart there was an error in the log and notifications that due to some reason all volumes were unmounted. The error says "Abnormality detected in nameOfNas. All volumes have been unmounted." How do I mount the volumes again without loosing my data? Do I have to run a command through telnet? I only have 1 HDD installed in the system. I am not that familiar with unix/linux commands so any help would be much appreciated. It says in the storage manager that the disk is initialized. Does that mean I have already lost my data on it? I have apparently lost all previously installed programs and settings as well Plz help

There have been numerous reports of issues with update 4 that require several reboots to resolve. I would suggest rebooting your system at least once if not twice to see if that solves your issue, hopefully it will as it has for most people.

Anyone who wants to know their real mac address on a HP N54L could simply attach a display (i used my TV with a VGA cable), boot the server, wait for the HP welcome screen to go away and display a few options where F10 is specified to take you to BIOS settings and there is one more option (F12 may be?). Press F10 on the keyboard (if you have one attached to your server). This will take you into your BIOS settings. I am not a 100% sure whether it is the default screen that gets displayed or the next one (pressing the right arrow key once) which takes you to the hardware setup/info tab. Scroll down to the bottom and it lists your REAL mac address (for the default network card installed) there. I did this before I installed xpenology on the server to note down my real mac address and update the vendor file. The real serial number of your machine is also listed there. You dont have to install an OS first to lookup your real mac address and serial number. It is listed in the BIOS settings.
