  1. This is not an official synology product, it's only design for testing purpose not for production.

    This is just a testing build. No "support/maintenance". It's a beta !

    It's based on my v1.1 beta5 (network drivers like igb, e1000e, r8168, r8169, alx, tg3, bnx2, sk98lin...)

    NFS works, iSCSI doesn't.

    Hello Trantor,

I saw you had a new beta update for DSM 4.3 (v6). You included the raid controller RocketRAID 2640x4. I was wondering if this controller is now included in the most recent DSM 5.0 update, or will this happen in the near future?

Thanks again for the awesome effort!

  3. I have a TYAN bi-cpu motherboard with one Opteron 6174 12cores on it. I will try on it.

I will increase CONFIG_NR_CPUS value too.

Is this something that may be fixed in a future update from you Trantor? That would be fantastic if Yes. I’m on 5.0 beta, by the way. Loving it!

  4. Hello,

I have XPEnology installed and working great (now) on my server. However, a few clarifying questions if someone wouldn't mind chiming in.

I have an Intel MB and a RocketRAID controller. Since the DSM software was not recognizing my 4 HDDs connected to the RocketRAID controller, I connected them to the MB directly which worked (but still 1 HDD not recognized, troubleshooting for next night  ).

    Questions:

1 - Does DSM handle hardware RAID 1 option? In the RocketRAID utility BIOS software, I have the option to create RAID 1 (and/or other RAIDs) or to treat all HDDs as just one combined storage bin. In other words, how would I set it up via the RAID controller?

2 - Do I even need the RAID controller for the purposes of DSM? I have a feeling the SHR or what may be RAID 5? that DSM software utilizes is software based and not hardware priority?

3 - Does someone have an easy guide how I could test out the RocketRAID 2640x4 drivers myself with DSM 5.0 beta? Also which drivers from this driver page should I download and use with DSM for testing purposes?

Thank you so much in advance for the help!

    This community rocks!

  5. Hi Trantor,

Excellent work with XPEnology project! Loving it.

I wanted to ask if you could add the driver for RocketRAID 2640x4 controller?

    RocketRAID 2640x4 controller driver location

I tried using the DSM 5.0 beta build that you compiled with the RocketRAID controller, however my 4 HDDs connected to the controller were not being recognized by DSM. I am using Intel S5000XVN MB. When I disconnect the HDDs from the RocketRAID controller and reconnect to the MB, DSM recognizes the HDD (well except one, but that's another story, troubleshooting for another night :-/ )

    Thoughts, anyone?

    Thank you.
