    Hello,

which model must i need from v1.02b (DS3615xs, DS3617xs and DS916+)? Is the DS3617xs better than DS3615xs and DS916+? When should i take analogue Version?

    Thank you.

    depends on your hardware

There's no way to upgrade my XPEnology! :?
I've always got this error:  ”Failed to install the file. The file is probably corrupted. (13)".
I'm 300% sure my VID and PID are right (I tried 3 differents USB Key), I also tried to edit grub on startup, but it doesn't work.
    On tutorial for Jun's v1.01
bootloader is written: If you got error 13 then try to 'Force Install'... but Jun's v1.02b bootloader have not this choose.

I choosed menù 2 REINSTALL but I've got the same error.
And now, what can I do?!? I'm so depressed...

    PS: I Tried DS3615 and DS3617 too

take a look at the 1.02a grub.cfg script, you will know how to add a menu option with "Force Install".

Glad to hear its working fine for you. I want to update my HP Gen8 as well. Haven't been busy with XPEnology for sometime but now see this update

Currently the HP Gen8 thinks its a DS3615xs with the following software:

    DS3615xs
    DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 7

Should i remain using the DS3615xs or can i update it to an DS3617?

Gen8 use old generation of Intel Core CPU. If DS3615xs works for you very well, no point to do something meaningless without any advantage.

If It Works, Don't Touch It.

  5. I have 2 disks.

I am just wondering if I really need to re-create the volume from these 2 HDD as the system indicates all is OK.

    sed 's/flashupdateDeb/flashupdateDeb1/' /autoupd@te.info> /autoupd@te.info1
    mv /autoupd@te.info1 /autoupd@te.info

you can see the above commands operate in root directory, not on your data volume

  6. I still have a question about my volume, as I don't have the option to recreate it.

    I can only delete it.

As update wasn't working, I stopped the background checking HDD during creation of the SHR volume, thinking it was the problem.

Do I need to delete the volume and start again volume creation ?

Here is what the systme indicates :

    NasVolume.jpg

How many disks do you have? seems that you have used all your disks.

if you want to create new volume, you must have free disks, otherwise you can only delete existing volume

    re-create means delete and create

  7. I do not have hibernation problem, disk hibernate always works (hibernation timer set to 10 mins), USB boot drive always mounted

power consumption dropped from ~42W to ~26W

(The only situation I spotted it doesn't work if I leave the DSM Webmin Page opened in the web browser)

    I am using gnoboot 10.5, DSM 5.0 4458-Update 2 (Atom + Tohsiba 3TB HDD x4, configured in two 3TB RAID 1 volumes)

    Apps installed

    1. phpBB

    2. mediaWiki

    3. phpMyAdmin

    4. Python3

    5. MariaDB

  8. I did the same thing also, updated my Xpenology box without the SSH command and my DSM version is also showing up as Update 7. All files and permission are intact. Strange!

Another strange thing that I found out is that my real Synology box, a DS110j, does *NOT* show Update 7 when I checked for updates. It's currently at DSM 5.0-4493 Update 5 and according to the status, it is still up-to-date. Maybe the shell shock security issue doesn't affect ARM-based Synology NAS?

DS110j do not suffered from shellshock venerability, therefore no update for that

  9. Synology Product Security Advisory

    2014-09-26

Important Information about Bash Vulnerability "ShellShock" (CVE-2014-6271 and CVE-2014-7169)

    Description

A vulnerability of a commonly used UNIX command shell, Bash, has been discovered allowing unauthorized users to remotely gain control of vulnerable UNIX-like systems. A thorough investigation by Synology shows the majority of Synology NAS servers are not concerned. The design of Synology NAS operating system, DiskStation Manager (DSM), is safe by default. The bash command shell built-in in DSM is reserved for system service use (HA Manager) only and not available to public users. For preventive purpose, Synology is working on the patches addressing this bash vulnerability and to provide them as soon as possible.

    Affected Models

Synology will release the corresponding update to address this weakness for the following models. We have confirmed that models which are not in this list are not concerned by this bash vulnerability.

    15-series: DS415+

    14-series: RS3614xs+, RS2414+, RS2414RP+, RS814+, RS814RP+, RS3614xs, RS3614RPxs

    13-series: DS2413+, DS713+, RS10613xs+, RS3413xs+, DS1813+, DS1513+

    12-series: DS712+, DS1512+, DS1812+, DS3612xs, RS3412xs, RS3412RPxs, DS412+, RS812+, RS812RP+, RS2212+, RS2212RP+

    11-series: DS3611xs, RS3411xs, RS3411RPxs, DS2411+, RS2211+, RS2211RP+, DS1511+, DS411+II, DS411+

    10-series: DS1010+, RS810+, RS810RP+, DS710+

    Resolution

The affected models vary on different versions of DSM due to differences in implementation. It is encouraged to update your Synology NAS server to the latest version.

If your Synology NAS server is one of the above models and an update is available, please go to DSM > Control Panel > Update & Restore> DSM Update and install the latest updates to protect your DiskStation from malicious attacks.

  10. I am using gnoboot 5.0-4458 update 2, i don't need to umount the USB drive, hibernate works fine, my USB drive is always mounted

only the case it don't work i have experienced, if i leave the DSM admin page open on the browser, it will affect the NAS do not go to hibernate
