I am willing to spend $500 on the 4 Bay NAS System.
Would I be better off getting a Gen 7 or Gen 8 Microserver?
Or are they any better products which work with DSM that you can think of?
I want to run the following.
- Plex Media Server
VPN Server
Web Server
MYSQL Server
Radius Server
Sabnzbd
Sickbeard
DNS Server
LDAP Server
Couchpotato
- Plex Media Server

Did you ever find out how to resolve the HDD Spin Down issue?
Also I thought DSM could do software RAID which will allow RAID 5. Am I wrong?

I want to build a Synology based NAS Server with the HP Microserver ProLiant Gen 8. It is a lot more powerful than getting myself a Synology DS113j for the same price.
HP Microserver ProLiant Gen 8 Specifications
CPU
Processor: Intel® Celeron® G1610T (2 core, 2.3 GHz, 2MB, 35W)
Number of processors: 1
Processor cores: 2
Memory
Standard memory: 2GB (1x2GB) UDIMM
Maximum memory: 16GB
Memory slots: 2 DIMM slots
Memory protection: Unbuffered ECC
2 x Gigabit Network Ports
If I purchase this system, will it be compatible with XPenology DSM Software.
I want to run the following
Plex Media Sever
Mail Server
DNS Server
Web Server
MySQL Server
Sickbeard
Sabnzbd or NZBGet
CouchPotato
Thanks for assistance
Are there any compatibility issues with this build on XPenology that I should be aware of?

I wish there was software like DSM for Linux.
Sure there is
cPanel, zPanel, (Mainly for website hosting, nothing else)
Webmin (A little different but it still needs some advance knowledge for configure servers)
It's not as simple and nice to install software packages on these systems.
DSM is simple, fast to configure, provides all required packages for home. But then there is a lot more software the will just work out of box and provide better security with CentOS.
We all love the WebGUI of DSM and we are missing this WebGUI on our linux operating systems.
