about system for DS415+. i found that its possible to install DSM for some RackStations, like RS3614xs+. i think so any DSM from segment 'Large scale business' will work, but not luck with DS415+
DS415+ also uses different chipset (AVOTON) and many third party applications has not been compiled for it yet.
It's an x86_64 CPU, why should applications be compiled specifically for this CPU?¨
Has anyone tried update 5.0-4528?got error 21
try from 4493 to 4528.
virtualbox vm
Got an error about access to temporary folder.

Has anyone tried update 5.0-4528?

Did anyone try 5.1beta 4977???
Yes. Volumes are unmounted.
Hoping that someone has some way for a workaround .
I heard that Cloud Station is broken with 4977

Same for me

Proprietary hardware with non x86 compatible CPU so don't expect to get Xpenology working on this type of device

Hi,
Seems that ipkg.nslu2-linux.org is down since at least yesterday, any workaround to get ipkg working?
Thanks!

Hi,

Hi,
Why don't you use the disk mapping for ESXi? http://blog.davidwarburton.net/2010/10/ ... -for-esxi/

Hi! How can I change the mac address on the virtual machine? I tried to mount /dev/sdaX but I keep getting the error "no such file or directory". Any idea?
Edit: forget it, I resolved it by mounting the synoboot image from another Linux virtual machine

Ok, do you need sources or binaries?
The binaries are here(v2): http://yadi.sk/d/fTRkFMyU3D8Yc
This is based on odie82544's DS3612xs_3202-Repack images, so thanks for those! Only the kernel, modules and linuxrc.syno are modified so far.
The archive contains both the .pat file for installation and .vmdk file for boot.
Create the virtual machine to esxi and add hardware:
- IDE controller with single harddisk (vmdk file in archive). Boot from this.
- PVSCSI controller and raw harddisks or vmdk files for data. I've tested with 3 disks so far.
- VMXNET3 network. Only single interface in bridged mode is tested so far. MAC address can be anything.
Follow the installation instructions elsewhere in this forum to install the pat file.
I wouldn't use this for anything else than evaluation yet.
Thanks for Upload, but can you upload in other share provider? hier is 64k download limit, it means I need about 7 hour to download.
Sign up on Yandex Disk you'll be able to download at full bandwidth, and it's free.
- IDE controller with single harddisk (vmdk file in archive). Boot from this.

Hi,
Anyone has tested Xpenology on ESXI with a HP N40L and a disk mapping? I'm worried about the performances

First you need to find on page 9 of this topic, my post with a link to the image of the usb drive and a link to the post with the image of DSM (.pat file)
Then you need to write the image to a USB flash drive using dd.
Next you need to modify the file named vender on a flash drive to set the mac-address of your server.
Then boot from usb, install DSM as usual.
Additionally you may write modules from https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5tpWhE ... sp=sharing to your DSM (/lib/modules)
Hi, thanks for your reply. Okay except that the link to the .pat file is now private, could you share the file? Thanks!
No, I did not build this module, as I do not have a controller for testing. You may build new kernel by yourself from my github repo, just enable CONFIG_MEGARAID_SAS in kernel config for your controller.
Of course, if you know this procedure.
Okay, if I clone your git repository and compile the kernel, the modules required for the N40L (LAN, Chipset, ...) will be already enabled or do I have to add other options than CONFIG_MEGARAID_SAS?
Could you provide a little procedure of how to compile it? I usually compile kernel by installing the kernel source package and make menuconfig, make defconfig, make && make install... I guess here is a bit different.
You may try to build qemu. But if I install Debian chroot, I would be able to install .deb packages right?

Hi, please allow access to the file to everyone, or if someone has the file to share it, thanks!

Hi,
I have 2 N40L and I read some of the pages of this topic but I'm a bit lost. What is the procedure to get DSM working on this server?
I have a RAID controller on the servers (based on LSI Logic LSISAS 1078 chipset) and I'd like to know if it would be compatible with DSM? If not what is the procedure to get it working?
And is there a way to run virtual machines inside DSM? I didn't find a VirtualBox package but there is Debian chroot, would it be enough to install VirtualBox?
Thanks!

Same issue here, running on ESXi 6.0, VM version: 10.
And because there is no Zabbix Agent package for DSM 6, I'm a bit stuck to monitor my Xpenology VM
