First off all, thx Jun for the new loader, many Kuddos
but, since its been a while since i've been messing around with the loader, i cant seem to find, or remember, how to prepare an usb stick for the new loader.
please point me in the direction, so i can prepare the usb stick with new loader.
second, i'm using a 3615 right now, does this also support the 6.2.1-23824-3?

Hi all,
i have been browsing on this forum for a while.
which got me an update from 5.4 to 6.1.6
today i came across a post choosing out of ds3615xs, ds3617xs and ds916+
since my update was rolling at that moment, i didnt payed attention to it.
now when all is up and running on my 3615xs i'd like to ask the benefits of the other posibilities.
but since i cannot find the post again, i'd place this post.
i'm running dsm on a intel i3 530 on a gigabyte h55-ud3h mainboard.

this is golden mate. thank you for the effort.
so i'll guess the 6.1.6 update is the latest working version for dsm xpenology at the moment ?

i'm running 5.2 with a lot of data on my 12 tb disc station.
i am terrified to do an update if it will mess up my data.
since i started a bare metal 5.2, i wasnt afraid at that time.
i did install the bare metal 6.1 on a different pc, with succes.
who gives me the little tab on the back, that the update wont crash my existing data?

i'm stuck on (5)
5 - Now launch OSFMount. Select Mount New, then select the image file (i.e. synoboot.img) to open. Now select partition 0 (the one that is 30 MB). Click Ok. Then at the bottom of the window make sure to un-tick the "Read only drive". Click Ok. The EFI partition of the image file should now be mounted in file explorer.
At this point you can navigate to the /image/DS3615xs directory and replace the extra.lzma ramdisk with the one provided above.
were i'm having troubles finding /image/ds3615xs
edit : found i didnt need that, so went on changing grub.conf, now installing new version on new test disk.
my last dsm was 6.1, how do i clean old dsm software, but leaving intact my stored files and documents ?
