Thanks very much for the reply.
so it is normal that the drivers are not shown in under the storage in ESXi client? how could i create a datastore for the DSM then?
ESXi doesn't need drivers if you're passing the adapter through to a guest OS. You just need to tick the checkbox next to the Marvell controller and then add the adapter to the DSM VM. -
A newbie here trying to set up a T20 server for the Xpenology.
The configuration is like this: CPU: Xeon E3-1225 V3; Memory: 20GB ECC; Samsung 850 Evo 250G SSD and a Seagate 500GB 2.5'' Driver connected to the motherboard, 2*4T HGST NAS driver + 1* 1T 3.5'' Driver connected through the Marvel 4-port Marvell 88SE9215 SATA controller. (The controller is here: https://www.amazon.com/IO-Crest-Control ... l+88SE9215)
So I successfully installed the ESXi 6U2 on the Samsung SSD, and i see the Seagate 500GB on the device list on ESXi client. While the other 3 hard drivers that connected through the SATA controller failed to appear. I do see them in the BIOS though.
I searched a bit online and found someone has the same prolem: https://www.reddit.com/r/homelab/commen ... _pci_help/. Is this the problem the ESXi 6U2 doesnt have the driver for the controller? Is there anyway I can install the driver?
Btw, in the advanced settings of the configuration tab in ESXi client, i see the controler is under the PCI Express Root Port#3. But it says this device (the Port) is not passthrough capable though the SATA controller is in passthrough mode (http://imgur.com/gallery/xPVTg).
Any ideas are welcome and appreciated.
SATA through PCI E failed to appear in ESXi 6U2 on T20
