Running 13 drives here with ESXi 6.0 and all 13 drives connected to the Xpenology VM guest using VT-d PCIe passthrough with a LSI 9211-8i SAS card in IT mode + SAS2 Expander. Not seeing any issues here. Oh, and I'm only using a Corsair CS450M PSU.
That is just it in a nutshell.... Get yourself a SAS card and set it up as passthrough!!!
For multiple reasons, I would never never never setup vmdk drives if you are running in a virtual environment. You are asking for trouble.

Well I just migrated from a bare metal XPenology box to a esxi box with an LSI controller set up as passthrough. I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged in all the drives.... Booted xpenoboot and it started up like nothing ever changed.
I couldn't believe it was that easy.

Help Deploying from OVF Template on ESXI

I currently have DSM 5.2 running on my ESXI (v6.0) server using XPEnobot and using a LSI SATA controller card set to passthrough.
First of all... I downloaded Jun's loader and tried the deploy it using the OVF template and it fails every time on uploading the vmdk file. I get an "IO error". Anybody have any ideas why???
Second... Information is kind fragmented here, so I am confused if I still need to mod the VID and PID values when running on ESXI.
Please help and thanks in advance.
