  2. Hey everybody, newbish here. Been running a custom build with DSM5.0 I set up 10 years ago ! Running great no issues , but some packages wont update anymore for obvious reasons.
I'm thinking of upgrading the OS to 6.2.x but I'm truly confused about the process. Its been quite a while. I've read the FAQ's etc but cant find a clear path guide to upgrade from my 5.0 to 6.2.x.
Would it even be worth the risk ? or should I just run as is until things just wont work anymore

  3. Hi everybody

I'm trying to install DSM 5.0 upgrading from Trantor 4.2 to GnoBoot 5.0. I have followed the instructions

    -Flash usb with gnoboot

    -boot using gnoboot.me

-find the station using synology asistant.

but at this point the assistant doesnt say "migratable" instead it says "Configuration lost"

has anyone come by this ?? I'm hesitant to proceed.

The only thing I read about on the official Synology website is that this will happen when you reset the NAS, but you won't lose any data (although not guaranteed). Only the configuration and settings will be lost, but that shouldn't be a big issue. If you don't want to lose your data making a backup is highly recommended of course. :!:

Thanks R0KH, true. The update happened with no data loss but I had to re install packages and re configure all which wasnt a big deal.
