  1. Is it safe to install update 4.3-3827? http://www.synology.com/en-global/relea ... l/DS3612xs

Synology on Facebook, said it was a recommended update...

    Version: 4.3-3827

    (2014/2/14)

    Change Log

This update repairs the system and removes malware caused by past system vulnerabilities (CVE-2013-6955, CVE-2013-6987).

The compatibility of SMB 2 file service has been enhanced when transferring files to Mac OS X 10.9.

Fixed an issue where SFTP service would consume excessive memory when it was enabled.

This update is required to continue using QuickConnect & Push Service notifications.

  3. Did your BIOS get reset and you didn't know it?

    Check the settings again...

From the main screen go to ‘Chipset > Southbridge Configuration > SB SATA Configuration’ and make sure your settings are the same as below:

    OnChip SATA Channel = Enabled

SATA PORTS 4/5 IDE mode = Disabled

SATA EPS on all PORT = Enabled

SATA Power on all PORT = Enabled

Return to the main screen then go to ‘Advanced > IDE Configuration’ and again, make sure your settings are the same as below.

Embedded SATA Link Rate = 3.0Gbps MAX

There's a thread where BIOS settings were getting reset on reboot: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1316&start=50

  4. Does iSCSI targets work in this build? I can create an iSCSI LUN and it makes the file in @iSCSITrg, but I cannot create an iSCSI Target at all. I get the error: "Connection failed. Please check your network settings."

I looked through my logs and found this:

    Jan 5 21:14:51 DiskStation iscsi.cgi: iscsi_lio_target_portal_group_add.c:38 Failed to do command 'mkdir -p /sys/kernel/config/target/iscsi/iqn.2000-01.com.synology:diskstation.name/tpgt_0 1>/dev/null 2>&1', errno=-1

    Jan 5 21:14:52 DiskStation iscsi.cgi: iscsi_util.cpp:350 iscsi_util.cpp:261 Failed to create target

    How do I fix this?
