LVNeptune Posted December 22, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2017 Installed 916+ loader on my Western Digital WD Sentinal DX4000...The problem is, since the loader boots FROM the USB drive, I need to engineer something to hold in the "recovery" button on the unit. It's a headless unit that only boots to USB on reboot if recovery button is held in

It's a headless unit that only boots to USB on reboot if recovery button is held in you could probably engineer an n/o relay with timer circuit that you could jumper across the reset button, on power up (taken from say the hdd supply) the relay closes mimicing the button press, and the timer releases after 'x' seconds https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Velleman-MK111-Adjustable-Timer-and-Relay-Output-/131508771446?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10 another option could be https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B075XC76HV?tag=opr-mkt-opr-uk-21&ascsubtag=1ba00-01000-ubp00-def00-other-nomod-uk000-pcomp-feature-scomp-wm-4-wl-sce0&ref=bit_scomp_sav0 , relays for the reset and power buttons giving you a full remote boot option, albeit complicated

I definitely could. Easier to just keep it pressed in though
Yelti Posted July 16, 2019 Share #4 Posted July 16, 2019 Maybe a late reply, but you can set the bootloader to boot from usb. You need to open the unit and solder a serial port, then you can access the bios and change the boot settings.this guide will show you how to achieve this.
