stevepin Posted December 3, 2017 #1 Posted December 3, 2017 hi Folks, Been using my Xpenolgy NAS for a while, great. The thing is, every now and than, I want to sync or backup the data from it to my old DS213. Using one of the synology backup apps doesnt work because the DSM version of my Xpenology (5.2) is older than my DS213 (6.1). Any ideas?? Thanks in advance Quote
0 Dfds Posted December 3, 2017 #2 Posted December 3, 2017 As you didn't specify what hardware you're using it's hard to say but you should be able to upgrade to 6.0.2 or possibly 6.1.4 Quote
0 stevepin Posted December 3, 2017 Author #3 Posted December 3, 2017 Thanks Dfds, Thats DSM 6.0.3-8754 Update 6 on the 213. The hardware is a Dell T3400, can it be upgraded? Quote

Thanks in advance 'Backup' between XPE/DSM versions is fine From 5.x to 6.x On the 6.x machine, enable Rsync in File Services On the 5.x machine create a backup destination in Backup & Replication to the 6.x machine ip address (synology rsync) Create a backup job to that target From 6.x to 5.x On the 5.x machine enable Backup Services in Backup & Replication On the 6.x machine, create a data backup in Hyper Backup to the 5.x machine. Choose 'Remote Data Copy', (NOT Remote Synology NAS) for compatibility Quote
