sbv3000 Posted October 21, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 21, 2017 So you want to erase the Mac O/S and use the Pro as an XPE/DSM NAS?

sbv3000 Posted October 21, 2017 Share #4 Posted October 21, 2017 Follow the installation tutorial for 6.1 to create a USB boot disk. Once you have created your boot USB, test your hardware first by booting with the USB making sure you can find the device on your network and also the web installer finds the hard disk. If that all works then then follow the rest of the tutorial installation - I'd guess you would want to image/backup your mac o/s and data with suitable software before you install DSM. IG-88 Posted October 21, 2017 Share #5 Posted October 21, 2017 (edited) hi, just try the normal install from the howto, before trying delete the partitons from the disks with live linux (ubuntu, gparted) or try with another empty disk before deleting the mac os partions from disk (efi, os, recovery) copper network should work ootb as it seems to be intel http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Apple_hardware#Ethernet_Controller you might consider 3617 to use all processors, 3615 is limited to 4 afair also you can google "xpenology mac mini" http://www.garydanton.co.uk/2017/05/building-diy-mac-mini-nas/ Edited October 21, 2017 by IG-

From a quick google search it looks like you can't boot the Mac Pro from a USB unless it's OSX.

In this situation create installer for a HDD? Because HDD is internal. Edited October 21, 2017 by Mark

Because I don't know what is the NIC mac address and where can I see. Edited October 23, 2017 by Mark
Mark Posted October 23, 2017 Author Share #16 Posted October 23, 2017 Now, I find my PC lan mac address in BIOS and change it in the grub file. But I still can not find the diskstation anywhere.(find.synology.com, assistant) I don't know what is the problem.
sbv3000 Posted October 23, 2017 Share #17 Posted October 23, 2017 For the initial setup, leave the MAC and Serial numbers unchanged in the grub file, change the MAC to your NIC address after install. Also to ask, you are using a wired network connection? Try the alternative extra.lzma files from @IG-88 As a test, also try an XPE/DSM 5.2 installation, that boot loader has more devices included which might help identify your issue
