Frankie Posted October 19, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 19, 2017 I got installed 5.2 with HP Smart Array P410 without problem. And now i try to upgrade to 6.1.3 and make use bootloader 1.02b. I can search it at Synology Assistant but it shows that i have no HDD as below. I think there is controller driver missing at the bootloader, may i know where and how to insert it into bootloader? Besides, i using the console HP N54L, any drivers i need to insert, besides controller driver? Thanks
cseb Posted October 20, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 20, 2017 Unfortunately the p410 doesn't work with the last loader. Disk aren't correctly recognized.

IG-88 Posted October 31, 2017 Share #4 Posted October 31, 2017 new kernel, new luck when it comes to the usual cycle the (final) release of 6.2 (and shortly after that there might be a new bootloader) will be end q1/2018, so plenty of time for planing and lets see how the new signed kernel module "feature", seen in the beta, comes into this equation
yand_ua Posted April 3, 2018 Share #5 Posted April 3, 2018 (edited) I know it's not a real solution, but i've got LSI controller working. I have a HP g7 N54L and the only proven supported SAS controller stated there is actually p410 according to owner's forum. So when i've bought it and it was not working under DSM, which was a primary g7's purpose, it was a disappointment. Anyway, i've managed to scavenge a LSI controller and it works! Hope this will be handy for you. Part number is sas9207-8i H3-25412-00H. Don't know if this was necessary, but i have also taken @IG-88 extra.lzma v4.7 from driver extension post. Here's module list, if you'd like. Kernel driver in use: pcieport Kernel driver in use: pcieport Kernel driver in use: ahci Kernel driver in use: ohci_hcd Kernel driver in use: ehci-pci Kernel driver in use: ohci_hcd Kernel driver in use: ehci-pci Kernel driver in use: ohci_hcd Kernel driver in use: ehci-pci Kernel driver in use: mpt2sas Kernel driver in use: tg3 And btw, during install of DSM itself, it was no problems with firing up 6.1.5 (most recent firmware as of march 2018) directly on top of 1.0.2 loader. I will put it to more tests soon, but as of moment two 2,5" disks are in. Seagate Firecuda ST1000LX015 is working. WD Black WD10S21X SHDD is showed, but capacity is 0. I won't care too much as first it's SHDD, a bit special case and then this disk was decommissioned from previous device due to high error rate - probably it was it's time... AlexBlajan Posted April 6, 2018 Share #6 Posted April 6, 2018 I bought today a HP Gen8 Microserver that has a P222 RAID Controller. I will install 4x3TB in RAID5 on it. Do you think I can install DSM6 on the server with no issues? What can I do ?
IG-88 Posted April 6, 2018 Share #7 Posted April 6, 2018 under "STORAGE DRIVERS LIST" HP SA Pxxx is still red so it will not work as baremetal install with 6.1 if you have to use this controller you can install esxi and use the raid5 volume as vmfs datastore and create a virtual disk for the dsm vm, inside dsm vm you use this vdisk as basic disk (no raid inside dsm vm, you alredy have raid 5 by the controller hardware) for baremetal dsm 6.1 you will need a different controller or you have to install dsm 5.2 (or use a different system like open media vault)
mitzone Posted April 15, 2018 Share #8 Posted April 15, 2018 I confirm HP SmartArray Pxxx not working with baremetal. I had a P420. Ended up buying an IBM M1005 and flashed it in IT mode, full info here: https://www.servethehome.com/ibm-serveraid-m1015-part-4/ Fully functional now, on a HP Micro Gen8 with 2 SSD for cache and 4 HDD for data. Cheers.
