redmessengerbag Posted November 20, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2013 I am trying to figure out why when I transferred about 1.65TB of data onto my newly built xpenology N40L box, it shows that I already used up 2.94TB of data, where did the 1.3TB of data go? I am a bit confused. Any help greatly appreciated I have 6 x 2TB on SHR2, so I have about 7.36TB total storage.
XPEH Posted November 20, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 20, 2013 Did enable recycle.bin and deleted some files? You can try to empty recycle.bin. How big the majority of your files? Larger files (Music/video/photos) or a lot of very small ones?
redmessengerbag Posted November 20, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted November 20, 2013 I emptied all the recycle bins, there weren't really anything in it, I have a pretty good mix of large and small files, but the majority is probably slightly on the bigger side. XPEH Posted November 20, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 20, 2013 Try from the SSH shell issue the command: df (disk free). It should give you the real usage. Maybe monitor doesn't reflect correct usage?
redmessengerbag Posted November 21, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted November 21, 2013 This is what is listed when I do df. Any ideas? fonix232 Posted November 21, 2013 Share #6 Posted November 21, 2013 Check if any share on volume1, including homes, etc., has a "@eaDir" folder. Those are the "recycle bin" folders, removing them should free up the space
redmessengerbag Posted November 24, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted November 24, 2013 Any tips on the commands I can use to browse the size of the folders? Been google and haven't found an answer. My knowledge is limited of command line linux. It was amazing that I was able to figure out how to disable the APM on my only Seagate ST2000DM001 in the box using VI. I am at a complete lost how to browse and figure out the directory sizes of each directory, any help appreciated.

redmessengerbag Posted November 24, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted November 24, 2013 Thanks! That worked...Uninstalled cloudstation and everything is back to normal. Eeeks I guess it's a cloudstation issue.

It would've helped a lot if you told us about CloudStation in the beginning By default, CloudStation acts like a really dumb version control system - it makes several backups, taking up precious space. I'd suggest you should use owncloud in the future if you want a cloud-like experience.
