Trantor Posted January 19, 2014 Author Share #251 Posted January 19, 2014 Got IET block level working by recompiling the module. I don't own a Synology hardware and have no valid reason to request the LIO source code. Any volunteers? What's module did you recompile and how ? When I tried to recompile the target_core_mod module it doesn't include iblock, file, pscsi parts. EDIT: Just recompile the iscsi_trgt module. Like you I got IET block level working
gnoboot Posted January 19, 2014 Share #252 Posted January 19, 2014 Re-compile iscsitarget-0.4.17 (IET). Synology backported LIO to linux-3.x from linux-2.6.32 , so it's impossible for us to rebuild it unless they include the source code in dsgpl or someone with kernel programming experience backport it. cd /path_to_dsgpl_source/iscsitarget-0.4.17 make KSRC=/path_to_dsgpl_source/linux-3.x
stanza Posted January 19, 2014 Share #253 Posted January 19, 2014 Hey I have the same server. any improvements over 4.2?. I havent made the jump yet since I have data on the 4.2. My understanding is I gotta start from scratch and if so I have to move the data off the ex490 before I can go with 4.3. I dont use eSata ever so that I dont care about as of yet. You should be fine Burn new usb stick and boot off that. Upload the newer pat file and select migrate... You will have to add users and any packages you installed.... All your data should remain tho. Best to backup 1st as always.... Just in case. Then update it to version 4 here http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2049 . Sources for linux-2.6.32 in synogpl-3776-bromolow include SYNO_LIO / lio-target. I will look closer to try some backport. EDIT Too many warnings/errors when trying to backport and maybe missing source code For now we must use iet mode to get iscsi block level working. nkkching Posted January 25, 2014 Share #260 Posted January 25, 2014 This build works fine.My hardware: Gigabyte G33m-DS2R with 2x 1,5TB and 4x 500GB HDDs. Everything works 1-2 days and the i get an Internal Server Error 500 (DSM and Surveillance Station). AFP; NFS and CIFS works but i cant login via webbrowser. I have to restart, power off the system and then it works 1-2 days. Ther is an error in the webserver. But I have no idea. I encountered the same problem and still no idea how to solve it. Any clues??????
djelusion Posted January 29, 2014 Share #261 Posted January 29, 2014 quick question, if you cant bootup while drives are connected, but have to remove all drives in order for xpenology to kick in, is there something I should be looking for?. conf file?. tried asking in a few threads and came up empty so im wondering if theres something else i might be missing. xpenology works but if i hit reboot and the drive is connected, forget about it. machine is as worthless as a homeless man. Kanedo Posted January 30, 2014 Share #262 Posted January 30, 2014 Trantor, I've finally got a chance to turn on my AMD server again. Using XPEnology DS3612xs DSM 4.3 build 3810++ (repack v1.0)... I'm happy to report that the Marvell SATA driver is working beautifully now that's it's a built-in module. I'm also happy to report powernow-k8.ko is working great as well. My AMD Opteron 8384 shows all four P-States after insmod powernow-k8.ko and I can change the frequency governor to on demand with cpufreq-set. I've 12 drives so far in the system and will be adding 12 more soon to max out my Supermicro server. Thanks for incorporating these in the last several releases, and please do continue to have them in future releases.

IMHO, if the driver for your controller was built as modules, you can insmod it once XPEnology booted to activate the disks.

I had the same issue with my second EX490 1st one worked no problems 2nd one wouldn't boot with HDD installed.... my trick was pull out 1st HDD 2inches Boot wait maybe 20seconds.... push 1st HDD back in Install Xpenology reboot Worked fine after that. (it must update the boot drive in bios to be USB stick and not HDD after this step by itself somehow ??) DONT REMOVE USB STICK for the installation...... as it must then mess up the boot order again. If you have one, use the VGA/PS2/MOUSE cable for your Mediasmart..... if not it's worth the investment to see what is actually going on at boot time I used one like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-Adapter-HP-MediaSmart-EX470-EX485-EX487-EX490-EX495-/260840429591
eightysixed Posted January 30, 2014 Share #265 Posted January 30, 2014 I see the couple of posts above me, but I think this is a different issue, as I tried it disconnecting the first primary HDD. Either way, quick question. I've been trying to install Xpenology, but have been unsuccessful so far. When booting from USB, it keeps hanging at the following: [sdu] Attached SCSI Disk It will get that far every time and then just hang. A few lines up, it references sdu as the USB stick. I've now tried three (3) different flash drives and every time it hangs at this step in the install/loading process. What am I missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Ukam Posted February 6, 2014 Share #268 Posted February 6, 2014 I had installed XPEnology DS3612xs DSM 4.3 build 3810++ (repack v1.0) on my old pc. synology assistant can install the pat file normally. but "buzzer stop button pressed" warning constant in the console and the cpu load was very high(often >90).I also try to install XPEnology DS3612xs DSM 4.2 build 3211++ (repack v1.2), console display stop at "[synoboot]attached scsi removable disk"(it something wrong there?the normal boot should stop at "booting the kernel..."?), but synology assistant can search the XPEnology, and install pat normally. everything is OK, no "buzzer stop button pressed" warning, and the cpu load is very low. My old pc hardware: Core2 Duo E6300(oc 2.8G),4G RAM, gigabyte 965p-ds4 ver1.0 MotherBoard. I'm sorry for my english , I hope everyone can understand what I'm taking about. Will be fixed in next Trantor's build. I forgot patch that. You can replace synobios.ko with this file: http://k3dt.eu/synobios-patched3.ko I have also a problem with "buzzer stop button pressed". I've tried to download the "synobios-patched3.ko" but the link seems to be inactive. I would be grateful if you could upload the patched synobios.ko once again. Thank you!
