Recommended Posts

Thanks for all those who guided on Media Server.

Now my next requirement is to

1. backup my local system data on daily/weekly basis with Incremental dat stamping and syncing of data between local disk and sinology server.

2. Access my NAS from anywhere over the internet in case I need to access data during my travel for office work, I need good cloud solution.

Please guide me...

For backup you can use the Hyper Backup package in the Package Center.

To access your NAS over the internet reliably you would need to create a custom DDNS (in order to have a fixe address to access the NAS) then configure it on DSM. I made a quick how-to on how to setup a DDNS but it's in French, nonetheless it's more-less self-explanatory.

Search the forum or even the Synology forum where there is plenty of guides on the matter.

Can I use my own domain to access the DiskStation with DDNS  or something else needs to be done to access NAS with personal domains.

If you already have your own domain yes it is possible and yes something else needs to be done. At your registrar's control panel (where you domain is registered) you will need to create a new CNAME record in the DNS zone and point it to the domain you created with the DDNS provider. See google search below:

First link explains it pretty well.

Re : Backup solution

still not able to find a correct one which can backup my Local Disk data ion Synology NAS.

My requirement is that whenever Backup occurs it should make a new copy of Backup with Date and Time stamp to recognize it.
