synogeek Posted June 30, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 30, 2017 I have 10 GbE NIC's across my various machines (NAS, Desktops, Servers ) and a 10 GbE switch. Granted having some older macs and desktop still that have 1G, is there a real benefit of having such a setup? Like when copying large movies (30-60GB plus) or lots of many files? Just wondering. 0 hpk Posted June 30, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 30, 2017 If you have a good concept where to store files, then there's not a big benefit on 10GB bandwith. I guess, I would appreciate it for doing backups form one NAS to anotherone, not in the same room... But here as well, I don't care, if a backup takes two hours from 3am to 5am or 10 minutes ... Until now, I did not find a killer criteria to justify it. But I'd love to have it anyway
