composer47 Posted January 21, 2017 Share #276 Posted January 21, 2017 To everyone:I recommend not to update to update 9. Some people are experiencing issues. A hard reboot may fix the problem in some instances but this does not seem to fix the issue for everyone, so stay on update 8 until further notice. Tutorial has been updated accordingly. Too late for me,wont come up again not even after reboot. With me i think the problem is the nic doesn't work anymore after the update Will set it up again from scratch. Running on amd bare metal. Can you try booting and selecting the AMD install entry line? This option worked for me. I tried various reboots after updating to 9. My machine would not come up again. I selected the AMD option and I'm good again. (I'm on Intel hardware) Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk

sagrotan Posted January 21, 2017 Share #281 Posted January 21, 2017 Trying again, in hope of someone will respond. My setup: .... Running: ESXi 6.5 build 4564106 DSM 5.2-5644 Update 5 I can not recomment to use esxi6.5 on the Gen8 box. The B120i driver is buggy again, but no chance to downgrade to .88 version. Go with 6.0 and you will be fine. Don't forget to downgrade the vsa driver to version .88. Update to V9 was flawlessly on 6.0. trewdtr Posted January 22, 2017 Share #282 Posted January 22, 2017 Hi, I am running DSM 5.2 on my old laptop, ASUS U46s. It runs quite well. I tired DSM 6.0, but it can't be searched within LAN. I do not know how to identify my laptop's LAN driver is included in the list. Thanks.

The B120i RAID controller, uses this driver in ESXi: hpvsa, version 5.5.0.102. Again, this does not answer my main question: how to upgrade to DSM 6.x? citizenzero Posted January 24, 2017 Share #288 Posted January 24, 2017 Sorry for the stupid question. In step 5, what do you mean by MAC Address... do you mean the MAC address of the Windows system being used to set-up the NAS and USBloader? Or Mac address of the NAS NIC? A_M_303 Posted January 24, 2017 Share #289 Posted January 24, 2017 Thanks for the guide Polankisman, I have a baremetal install on my n54l. I have an old broken DS411j and want to change the SN/MAC on XPE to get quickconnect and other apps to work. I tried reading different guides on here but can't work it out so would really appreciate some help with that please. I know it's frowned upon but I have a genuine synology box which is not working. hansel Posted January 24, 2017 Share #290 Posted January 24, 2017 I think I once read that you should use a serial number and MAC address of an original Synology. I don't think there is a DSM check on an existing/legit serialnumber. Is there? Anyway, I just used the same serial as my previous XPEnology, DSM 5.2 installation. And updated the whole lot. In the gub file change the following line: initrd $img/ramdisk.lzma $img/$extra_initrd To: initrd $img/$extra_initrd $img/ramdisk.lzma Then try installing again.
