5th drive on n54l and DSM 6.0

Trying to make DSM 6.0 see a 5th drive on my HP n54l; it has been working with 4 drives with  no problems.  Already tried sataportmap=42 on grub.cfg with no success. Anyone got it working?.  How?.

You need modified BIOS.

I know, and it is already done.  But the 5th drive is not seen by DSM.

Do you see the disk in your BIOS?

That was the problem!.  The disk was not in AHCI mode.  Fixed now, it is seen by DSM.

Hi, I have the same issue, my disk is visible on the bios but not by the dsm. I did you active the AHCI mode (I dont know if this is my problem).

Yes, I did that, and used sataportmap=42 in grub.cfg

Thanks for your help, I will try the sataport 42 asap.

 

I thought that grub.cfg was only use during the first install on during a boot, it is always used?

Hi, I found the solution, need to remove the sataportmap on grub.cfg file.

If you are using DSM 6.x all drives need to be set up as AHCI.

To do this, you need a modified BIOS. I prefer "TheBay"
